The logic of speed / power settings changing when I select a different material?

I know that I can set different materials, and that the speed, power etc for the objects change when I do that. I assume this adjusts the settings to something reasonable for that material. Here are my assumptions:

  1. When I change materials, the Score / Engrave / Cut settings seem to be set to the recommended value of the currently set material in the one-click set area of the EasySet Panel. At least, this seems to be the logic.
  2. When I copy an object from one document and paste it into another document, the Score / Engrave / Cut settings are modified to the recommended value of the currently set material in the one-click set area of the EasySet Panel.

I'm asking this for my own sanity. Now my questions:

Is there a way to paste objects into a new document and keep all the Score / Engrave / Cut settings just as I have them in the original document? I tried setting the document to “User-defined Material” in the new document, but this didn't keep my settings. I also tried setting the new document material to the same material as the original document, and the paste set them to the recommended settings.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
