I am new to using lasers and I am having trouble with what I thought would be something simple.  I am trying to simply cut an image out of a piece of wood. It's basically a shape like the the letter L.  

Also when I'm working in a file and I make a mistake and I want to close that project out and start over or work with a new one, I find that the only way to do that is to X out of XCS and reopen the program and elect not to recover the one I closed out.  Is there an easier way to do that?
