Read and get familiar with all safety precautions and procedures before using the machine. Strictly follow all safety precautions. Ensure that the machine is properly assembled and is working properly.

1. General safety guidelines

  • This product can only be used with xTool P3.
  • Cut off the power before installing and removing the conveyor feeder, or performing device maintenance.
  • When not using this product, put the three magnetic panels back (as circled in the dashed boxes marked "1", "2", and "3" in the following figures) to ensure that the feeding inlet and delivery outlet are both closed.

  • Check the product and xTool P3 for damage every time before you use them. Do not operate them in any way when any damage or defect is found.
  • The clamping module is electrically driven. Keep your hands clear of the conveyor feeder during the processing.
  • If the product loses power during processing, the material remains secured by the clamping module. To resolve this, restore power to the product, and the clamping module automatically releases the material.
  • Prolonged use of the smoke shield strip may cause deformation or damage, which reduces its ability to effectively block laser light and smoke. In this case, replace it in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that the workspace is clean and flat.
  • Pay attention to whether the product is working properly during operation.

2. Laser safety

Lasers are categorized into several different classes depending on the extent of the potential hazard associated with the laser, with Class 1 being the least dangerous and Class 4 the most dangerous. The United States Food and Drug Administration has indicated that Class 4 lasers may pose an "immediate skin hazard and eye hazard from exposure to either the direct or reflected beam; may also present a fire hazard."

When working with the conveyor feeder, xTool P3 is classified as a Class 4 laser machine. It includes a Class 4 working laser and a Class 1 indicator laser. Diffused laser beams may leak out from the openings when the magnetic panels in the front and back of xTool P3 are removed during operation, and you may be exposed to Class 4 laser radiation. The conveyor feeder and xTool P3 are intended for professional use only, and more precautions are required for safe operation.

image.png Follow the following safety guidelines:

  • ONLY professionally trained personnel are allowed to use the product. A qualified Laser Safety Officer (LSO) must be designated and the product shall be operated by or under the guidance of the LSO. LSO is obliged to evaluate the laser safety risks and set up safety control mechanisms to ensure the safety of operators and prevent untrained persons from entering the laser radiation hazard area. Based on the safety evaluation and safety control mechanisms of the LSO, you can set up a safety-controlled area by using the remote interlock function of the access-control key. You can visit support.xtool.com/article/1367 to find the operation guide.
  • Before using the product, complete xTool's Laser Safety Awareness Training Course and review LSO Training documents, available at xTool Creative Space (XCS) and support.xtool.com/article/1171 for more information on Class 4 lasers, their uses, and their potential hazards. In the workplace context, you shall also receive adequate Class 4 laser product safe operation training as set forth in ANSI Z136.1, which is on the responsibility of the employer to provide.
  • When you use this product, wear safety goggles that can shield your eyes from 10.6 μm laser beams and do not put your hands into the processing area. Avoid eye or skin exposure to direct or scattered laser radiation. You can visit support.xtool.com/article/1443 to find information about how to choose safety goggles.
  • If your skin gets burned by laser beams, disinfect the skin with a povidone-iodine solution immediately and apply burn ointment to the wound. If you are severely burned, go to a hospital and see a doctor as soon as possible.
  • Beyond the parts that need to be disassembled for the installation of the conveyor feeder, do not operate the device when any other part of it is removed. Otherwise, the laser system may be exposed and the risk of equipment damage increases.
  • Do not use the product in public places, or on other occasions where untrained persons or children are present.
  • Ensure that only trained professionals with personal protective equipment enter the laser radiation area. You can visit support.xtool.com/article/1444 to learn about the Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) and Nominal Ocular Hazard Distance (NOHD) of Class 4 xTool laser machines.
  • You are advised to use xTool materials and recommended parameters for engraving or cutting. You can visit easyset.xtool.com and choose your device to find applicable xTool materials and the recommended parameter settings. If you are not using xTool materials or parameters recommended by xTool, or if you are not sure whether the material is applicable to your device, please contact our customer service at support@info.xtool.com for help to ensure safe operation and processing results.

3. Warning and instruction signs

On the product, the warning and instruction signs are labeled where physical injuries or damage to the product may be caused before and/or during operation. If a sign is damaged or lost, replace it immediately. You can use the following template to print the sign you need.
