Issue description

The laser module of xTool S1 moves upwards beyond limit and making grinding noise.

Troubleshooting

#1 Check and replace the SD card

If the SD card of the machine is not working properly, this issue can happen. You may see a pop-up error message about the SD card at the moment. Please check and replace the SD card. For details, please refer to this guide.

Note: Make sure the SD card is 32GB or smaller and formatted as FAT32.

#2 Replug the cable of Z-axis limit sensor

If the Z-axis limit sensor connection becomes loose, it may also trigger this issue. If you have already replaced the SD card and the problem persists, please check the Z-axis limit sensor connection cable. To do so, please follow the steps below:

1. Remove the laser module. For details, please see this guide.
2. Tear off the black cover paper on the top of the Z-axis case, which contains the limit sensor.
3. Remove the four screws on the top and left side of the Z-axis case.
4. Upon opening the case, you should find the green limit sensor port. Replug the cable and ensure it's secured.
