The engraving looks different from or worse than the same design last time, with the same processing params like power, speed, etc.
Troubleshooting
There are many factors that can lead to this issue. Usually, it's related to the focal distance, the field lens or the type of material you use. In the following, we will go through them one by one.
#1 Perform Z-axis homing
Connect your machine in xTool Creative Space (XCS).
Go to Device settings >Device settings > Z-axis homing. Click on the Homing button.
Note: After the homing, do not change the height of the laser module again.
Look at the baseplate. You should see the red and blue dots overlap.
If they are separated, please move on to the next step for manual alignment.
#2 Align the dots manually
Note: Put on the lens protector prior to the operation to avoid possible damage to the lens.
Look up from the baseplate towards the laser module. You should see a ball head next to the field lens.
On the ball head, there are two holes. The one on the left is the red light outlet, and the one on the right is empty.
Stick a screwdriver or something similar to the empty hole. Pry it to adjust the position of the ball head and make the dots on the baseplate align.
Note: The ball head can be hard to move, yet movable. Please adjust it's position slowly with consistent force. Do Not adjust it abruptly.
#3 Clean and Fasten the lens
Clean off any stains or unwanted objects on the lens surface.
Check if the field lens is loosen. Turn it anti-clockwise to fasten it.
#4 Try a different material
Sometimes the same type of material can result in different engraving outcomes due to inconsistent composition.
It is recommended to use xTool official consumables or purchasing high-quality materials for consistent quality.
