The scenarios and materials that do not guarantee accurate filling

Updated Jun 28,2024

XCS recognizes materials through visual images and automatically fills each material with the processing object based on your sample design.

The following scenarios may cause inaccurate filling results:

-      The captured image is not clear (due to unfavorable environmental lighting or material property)

-      The material feature is not distinctive

Possible consequences of inaccurate filling:

-      Some materials not filled

-      Processing object deviating from the desired position

-      Processing object facing the wrong direction

For the following scenarios and materials, you are advised to process materials in the Process on flat surface mode and use the Batch fill feature in Applications. This way, you can view the filling result of each batch of materials and decide whether to proceed to processing.

Scenarios that do not guarantee accurate filling

Scenario 1:
The processing area is dark, resulting in an unclear picture.

Scenario 2:
The material color is close to the color of the conveyor belt, making it difficult to recognize the material boundary or other features such as holes.

Scenario 3:
The materials are highly reflective, making it difficult to recognize the material from the captured image.

Scenario 4:
The materials are too thick, making it difficult to recognize the processing surface from other faces. We recommend that you use materials with a thickness of up to 4 mm.
Note: If the thickness of the material exceeds 4 mm, please place the material on the upper part of the processing area. Adjust the position of the material to avoid shadows or side faces appearing on the captured image.

Scenario 5:
If the conveyor belt is dirty or gets scratched by laser beams, the marks may interfere with material recognition. In particular, when a material overlaps with a mark, XCS may mistake the mark as a part of the material.

Materials that do not guarantee accurate filling

Material type
Example
Highly reflective materials
Perforated and small metal materials
(Less than 10 mm in length and width)
Hollow materials
Materials that are too thick
(The captured image shows the side faces or shadows of the materials)
Materials that are not of solid color
Materials that have no definite shape (such as a necklace or a chain)
Materials whose surface to be processed is not level (such as spoons)
Complex-shaped and small materials
(Less than 10 mm in length and width)
