1. What is xTool O1 Omni Printer

xTool O1 Omni Printer is a versatile 4-in-1 printing solution designed for both rigid objects and fabric applications. Depending on the device editions, it supports UV printing, DTG printing, DTF transfers, and UV DTF transfers, allowing creators to customize everything from acrylic, wood, glass, and metal to apparel, shoes, hats, and curved objects.

2. What can I make with O1 Omni Printer

O1 can be used to create customized apparel, tumblers, mugs, acrylic signs, wood products, leather goods, stickers, decals, canvas prints, promotional products, and more.

3. What is the printing area

With a mini baseplate, the printing area is 13 × 4.8 in (330 × 122 mm).

With a standard baseplate, the printing area can be expanded to approximately 13 × 16.5 in (330 × 420 mm).

4. What is the DTG printing area

The DTG garment tray provides a working area of approximately 11.8 × 15.4 in (300 × 390 mm).

5. What is the maximum print resolution

O1 offers a print resolution of up to 720 × 1440 dpi, enabling detailed graphics, fine patterns, and small text.

6. How does O1 position designs accurately

O1 features the Pixel-Scan™ Vision System, combining full-area laser sensing with CIS imaging to detect the actual size and position of objects. Its positioning accuracy is up to ±0.2 mm, helping users align designs precisely on different objects.

7. Why doesn't the printer have a power switch

The printer is designed to remain powered on so that automatic maintenance can run properly. For this reason, there is no separate power switch on the printer.

8. Why does the printer need to operate within the recommended temperature and humidity range

The ink used by O1 is designed to work within a specific temperature range. Ink viscosity and jetting performance change with temperature, which can directly affect print quality. If the ink temperature is too high, for example above approximately 35°C, ink droplets may not land accurately, resulting in blurred or fuzzy image edges. If the ink temperature is too low, for example around 15°C or below, the ink may become more viscous. This may result in lighter colors, ink separation, ghosting, poor ink flow, or nozzle clogging. For consistent print quality, operate the printer within the recommended environmental conditions.

9. Why is the initialization process so comprehensive

Initialization and calibration identify and adjust key printer parameters required for accurate positioning, height measurement, scanning, and printing. Completing initialization and calibration correctly during initial setup is essential for achieving reliable print quality and positioning accuracy.

10. Do I need to re-calibrate the printer later

Normally, no. Once the initial calibration is completed, recalibration is generally unnecessary. Recalibration may be required if the printer has been impacted or moved abnormally and you notice issues such as:

  • An uneven or tilted baseplate
  • Incorrect height measurement
  • Poor print-to-scan alignment
  • Reduced positioning accuracy

Perform recalibration only under guidance from xTool technical support.

11. How should I maintain the printer if I won't be using it for an extended period

Set the printhead(s) to moisturizing mode on the xTool software and keep the printer powered on. The printer will automatically perform maintenance.

1. What editions of xTool O1 Omni Printer are available

xTool O1 Omni Printer currently comes in three editions: Single UV printhead edition, dual UV printhead edition, and UV & DT printhead edition.

2. What are the differences between the O1 Omni editions

The UV & DT printhead model features a UV printhead for UV printing and a DT printhead for fabric printing. Supported materials include:

  • Rigid materials: Acrylic, wood, metal, glass, ceramic, etc.
  • Soft materials (DTG): Leather, canvas, cotton, polyester

The dual UV printhead model features two UV printheads. Supported materials include:

  • Rigid materials: Acrylic, wood, metal, glass, ceramic, etc.
  • Soft materials: Leather, canvas

The single UV printhead model features one UV printhead. It supports printing on rigid materials, such as acrylic, wood, metal, glass, ceramic, etc.

3. What is the difference between DTG and DTF printing on O1

With DTG (Direct-to-Garment) printing, the design is printed directly onto the fabric.

With DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing, the design is first printed onto transfer film and then transferred onto the final fabric using adhesive powder and heat.

About printing capabilities

UV printing

1. What is UV printing

UV printing is a digital printing process that uses ultraviolet light to cure ink almost instantly as it is printed. Because the ink cures on the surface rather than being absorbed deeply into the material, UV printing can be used on a wide variety of rigid and flexible materials, including acrylic, wood, metal, glass, leather, and more.

2. What materials work well with UV printing

Common UV-printable materials include acrylic, wood, metal, glass, ceramic, leather, coated surfaces, and many plastics. Print adhesion can vary depending on the material and surface treatment, so some materials may require cleaning, preparation, or a primer before printing.

3. Why does UV printing use white ink

White ink is especially useful when printing on dark, transparent, or colored materials.

4. Why does UV printing use varnish

Varnish is a transparent ink that can be applied to selected areas of a design. It can create glossy highlights, contrast between matte and glossy finishes, and raised tactile effects. When used with a laminator, varnish can also help create foil-stamping effects.

5. Can UV printing be used on fabric

UV printing is generally better suited to rigid or specially compatible flexible materials rather than everyday garments. For wearable fabric products, DTG or DTF printing is usually a better choice because fabric inks and transfer systems are designed to flex with the textile and provide better comfort and wash durability.

DTG printing

1. What is DTG printing

DTG stands for Direct-to-Garment. It is a digital printing method that prints textile ink directly onto the surface of a garment, similar to how an inkjet printer prints onto paper. After printing, the ink is heat-cured to improve durability and wash resistance.

2. What fabrics are best for DTG printing

DTG generally performs best on garments with a high cotton content because cotton fibers absorb textile ink well. Different fabric blends may require different print settings or preparation, and results may vary depending on the material composition.

3. Why do garments need pretreatment before DTG printing

Pretreatment helps the ink remain near the surface of the fabric instead of soaking too deeply into the fibers. It is especially important when printing white ink on dark-colored garments. Proper pretreatment can improve:

  • Color vibrancy
  • White ink opacity
  • Edge definition
  • Print durability

O1 Omni Printer provides two types of pretreatment solutions for optimal printing results: White Ink Pretreatment Solution and Color Ink Pretreatment Solution.

4. Why do dark and white garments require different pretreatment solutions

Dark garments use white ink pretreatment solution. This is because dark garments require a white ink underbase so that the colors remain bright and visible against the dark fabric. The pretreatment used for white ink helps keep the white ink near the surface of the fabric instead of soaking into the fibers, improving opacity, image sharpness, adhesion, and wash durability.

White or light-colored garments use color ink pretreatment solution. This is because these garments generally do not require a white ink underbase. When a color ink pretreatment is required, it is formulated for the needs of CMYK printing, helping the color ink produce a clear and consistent result without the heavier treatment required for a white ink layer. Different pretreatment formulations are therefore used to match the ink type, garment material, and printing process.

5. Does DTG printing require heat pressing

DTG prints normally need to be heat-cured after printing.

A heat press is commonly used to cure the ink and improve wash durability. Pre-pressing the garment may also help remove moisture and wrinkles before printing.

6. How does DTG feel on the garment

DTG ink is printed directly into and onto the fabric fibers, so the finished print can have a relatively soft hand feel, especially on light-colored garments without a heavy white underbase. The final feel depends on the garment, ink coverage, pretreatment, and curing process.

7. How durable is a DTG print

When the garment is properly pretreated, printed, and cured, DTG prints can provide good wash durability. Actual longevity depends on factors such as fabric type, printing settings, curing conditions, detergent, and washing method.

DTF printing

1. What is DTF printing

Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing is a process in which a design is printed onto transfer film. After printing, the film is coated with hot melt powder and cured. A separate heat press is then required to transfer the design onto the garment using heat and pressure.

2. How should I choose between DTG and DTF transfer

DTG is a good choice when you want:

  • A soft print feel
  • Direct garment printing
  • Fewer transfer steps

DTF is a good choice when you want:

  • Compatibility with a wider range of fabrics
  • Transfers that can be prepared in advance
  • Printing on items that are difficult to place directly inside a printer
  • Flexible apparel production
  • High-quality graphics on compatible cotton garments

UV DTF printing

1. What is UV DTF printing

UV DTF creates adhesive graphics that can be transferred onto hard or smooth surfaces without printing directly onto the final object. The design is printed with UV-curable ink onto transfer film, laminated, and then applied to the object like a decal.

xTool provides a dedicated laminator xTool LM1 Laminator and a dedicated roll feeder xTool RF1 Roll Feeder to work with xTool O1 Omni Printer.

2. What is the difference between DTF transfer and UV DTF transfer

DTF transfer prints a design onto transfer film, applies hot melt powder, and then uses heat and pressure to transfer the design onto fabric.

UV DTF transfer prints and UV-cures the design on a transfer film. The finished graphic is then applied directly to a compatible hard surface like a decal, without the need for heat pressing. In short: DTF is mainly for fabric, while UV DTF is mainly for hard-surface customization.

1. What materials can O1 print on

Material compatibility depends on the edition. On the whole, O1 can print on both rigid and soft objects:

Yes. With the optional xTool OR1 Rotary Attachment, O1 can print on cylindrical and curved objects such as tumblers, mugs, cups, and ornaments.

3. Can O1 print on large or continuous materials

Yes. With the optional xTool RF1 Roll Feeder, O1 supports continuous roll printing for applications such as canvas and adhesive vinyl.

4. What special printing effects can O1 create

Depending on the printer edition, ink configuration, material, and accessories, O1 can create effects such as:

About accessories

1. What accessories are available for O1

2. Do I need to buy all the accessories

No. Accessories can be selected based on your intended applications. For example, users mainly printing flat rigid objects may not need a rotary attachment, while users producing UV DTF transfers may benefit from the roll feeder and laminator.

3. How long does an adhesive mat last

Adhesive mat life varies depending on operating conditions, materials, ink coverage, and the type of printing performed. Therefore, there is no fixed replacement interval. Replace the adhesive mat when:

  • Materials can no longer be held securely.
  • A significant layer of cured ink has built up on the mat, such as after extended relief printing.
  • Large contaminated areas interfere with smart mask performance.

4. How can I extend the life of the adhesive mat

Place a protective pad, such as a silicone mat, over the adhesive mat when appropriate. For best scanning and mask extraction, use a plain, solid-colored pad. Patterns or complex graphics may interfere with visual recognition.

5. What does the ink pad do

When the printhead returns to its home position, it presses down against the ink pad, while the spring underneath provides cushioning. This downward pressure ensures that the bottom surface of the printhead forms a complete seal with the rubber rim of the ink pad, creating an airtight passage. The bottom of the ink pad is connected to the waste-ink pump through an ink tube. When the pump operates, it creates suction and rapidly draws ink from the ink path above the printhead through the nozzles. This helps remove any particles that may be clogging the nozzle openings, thereby cleaning the printhead.

6. When should I replace the ink pad

The ink pad is a routine consumable part of the printer. Over time, it may deteriorate, wear out, or become damaged. If any of these issues occur, the ink pad should be replaced. Replace the ink pad if its surface becomes uneven or damaged, such as when cracks, dents, or hardened white ink buildup appear. These issues may prevent the printhead from sealing properly against the ink pad and cause air leakage between them. Under normal operating conditions, it is recommended to replace the ink pad approximately every three months. Regular cleaning and maintenance should also be performed during daily use.

7. Why are ink extractors used for manual ink filling

Manual priming with an ink extractor allows ink to be drawn directly into the ink damper and ink path. This can reduce ink consumed compared with repeated automatic ink filling.

8. How effective is the printer’s built-in air purification system

O1 features a high-efficiency built-in air purification system. When printing with the cover closed, it effectively captures VOCs generated during printing and significantly reduces odors. When printing with the cover open, the capture efficiency is reduced, and some odors may escape. For enhanced air purification, we recommend using a compatible xTool air purifier.

About software

What software does the printer use? Can I use third-party RIP software

The printer is designed to work with our official xTool software. This software is free, although some optional features may require additional payment. Third-party RIP software is currently not supported.

About ink

1. What types of ink does O1 use

O1 uses different ink types depending on the printer edition and application, including UV ink, DT fabric ink, fluorescent UV ink, rigid white ink, flexible white ink, and varnish.

The ink configuration varies by O1 edition:

  • Single UV edition: CMYKVW
  • Dual UV edition: CMYKVW + RW/FW/FR/FY
  • UV & DT edition:
    • UV ink: CMYKWV
    • DT fabric ink: CMYKWW

These inks are eco-friendly and free of reproductive toxins. UV inks are GREENGUARD® certified for cleaner indoor air, while DT fabric inks are OEKO-TEX® certified for skin-safe custom apparel.

2. What is the difference between rigid white ink and flexible white ink

Rigid white ink offers greater hardness and scratch resistance, making it ideal for rigid materials such as hard phone cases and acrylic. Flexible white ink is more flexible and works better on materials that can bend or stretch, such as flexible phone cases, canvas, leather, and roll film. Soft white ink is also required when using gold or silver foil stamping. Using the wrong type of white ink may affect print durability. For example, rigid white ink may crack or peel when a flexible material is bent, while flexible white ink can be used on rigid materials but is less scratch-resistant than rigid white ink.

3. Why does O1 adopt manual ink filling instead of automatic ink filling

Compared with automatic ink filling, manual ink filling uses less ink and takes less time.

First, manual ink filling saves ink. Automatic ink systems can’t precisely monitor ink inside ink tubes, so they often over-extract ink for stable feeding. With manual filling, you only pump until ink appears, cutting redundant ink waste and saving around 40% of ink per filling cycle.

Second, manual ink filling is much faster. Hand pulling creates far stronger suction than automatic ink systems, which speeds ink flow through the ink paths drastically. As a result, the entire printhead gets fully filled with ink in no time.

With the right technique, manual ink filling is both fast and ink-efficient.

4. Why does the printer need white ink circulation

White ink contains titanium dioxide (TiO₂) pigment, which gives the ink its opacity and bright white appearance. These pigment particles tend to settle when the ink remains still for an extended period. The white ink circulation system keeps the ink moving through the ink path, helping the pigment remain evenly dispersed. This reduces sediment buildup and helps maintain consistent white ink density and print quality. For printers that perform automatic white ink circulation or agitation while idle, keep the printer powered on as instructed so these maintenance cycles can run normally.

About operations and functions

1. Why are thick, dark-colored objects difficult to see in the scan

The O1 vision system uses close-range illumination for precise positioning. With thick objects, the background is farther from the illumination source and may therefore appear darker. Dark objects can further reduce contrast between the object and the background. To improve edge recognition, place a plain, light-colored sheet or pad on the adhesive mat beneath the object. Avoid patterned backgrounds, as they may interfere with object detection.

2. Why does air enter the ink system

The ink cartridge has been completely emptied, allowing air to enter the ink lines. White ink may dry and build up around the printhead over time. This buildup can cause an air leak at the connection between the ink damper and the printhead, allowing air to enter the ink lines. Poor sealing between the printhead, ink damper, and ink pad over an extended period may prevent some printhead channels from being properly cleared, eventually causing clogging.

3. Why are there ink drops on the print platform or on the surface of the printhead

Possible cause 1: Ink damper failure

A faulty printhead damper may cause ink to drip continuously. Move the printhead to the center and observe whether ink continues to drip. If it does, the ink damper is likely faulty. Contact after-sales support for assistance.

Possible cause 2: Abnormal or damaged scraper If the ink scraper is at an incorrect height, or if it is deformed or damaged, it may not be able to completely remove ink droplets from the surface of the printhead after cleaning. As a result, residual ink droplets may be carried along with the printhead during printing and drip onto the print platform.
