Check whether the air tube inside xTool P2 works properly

Before installing the fire safety set, you need to check whether the air tube inside xTool P2 works properly. It is provided to deliver the CO2 gas from the control box to xTool P2.

Check the air tube inside xTool P2 as follows:

1. Insert the tube delivered with the fire safety set into the tube fitting on xTool P2.

2. Use a balloon pump or any other air inflation tool, such as a syringe or air pump, to push air into the tube, and while you are pumping, observe whether the air comes out of the air outlet inside xTool P2.

You can use your hand or a piece of tissue to feel the air.

If the air is not delivered to the inside of xTool P2 properly, the possible causes are as follows:

(1) The tube is bent due to its length. You can take it down, clip it shorter, and then fit it back into the machine.

(2) The tube is loose. You need to fit it in place.

Note: For details about how to solve the problem where the CO2 gas of the gas bottles in the control box can't be released into xTool P2, go to https://support.xtool.com/article/826.

Install the fire safety set

You can choose to use the flaming sensing function of your machine to detect flames or install the sensors delivered with xTool Fire Safety Set.

Way 1: Use the flame sensing function of your machine

Alternatively, you can use the flame sensing function of xTool P2, which requires no sensor to be installed and allows the fire safety set to work together with the machine.

To install the fire safety set in this way, you need to connect the control box to xTool P2.

1. Connect the tube to the control box and xTool P2

Note: Insert the tube into the tube fitting on xTool P2, instead of any other ports. Otherwise, the laser module may be damaged.

2. Connect the control box to xTool P2 with the connection cable

3. Connect the fire safety set to a power supply

4. Connect xTool P2 to a power supply

Note: If you use xTool P2 with xTool Smoke Purifier, xTool Air Assist Set, or xTool Inline Duct Fan, you need to control their power through the xTool Smart Switch. In this way, the fire safety set can automatically cut off the power to these accessories and xTool P2 immediately when a fire occurs. However, never connect the power cable of the fire safety set to the smart switch.

Way 2: Use the sensors delivered with xTool Fire Safety Set

You can choose to install the sensors delivered with xTool Fire Safety Set, which allows the fire safety set to work as  an independent auxiliary safety system to complete the whole process as described in the following:

Flame detection -> signal transmission -> signal receiving -> alarm triggering or CO2 gas releasing

When installing the fire safety set in this way, you don't need to connect the control box to xTool P2, that is, you don't need to connect xTool fire safety set to the port when using it.

1. Determine how many sensors you need to use

You can determine how many sensors to be used based on the structure and processing space of your laser machine.

Tips: Sensor 1 is designed to detect flames around a laser module, and sensor 2 is designed for detect flames in other areas.

The closed processing space of xTool P2 is about 0.09 m3. In addition to sensor 1 for detecting flames around the laser module, you can use four sensors 2, fitting them on the inner side of the lid of xTool P2.

2. Install sensor 1

(1) Determine the position where the sensor can be stuck. Ensure that it does not interfere with the moving of the laser module.

(2) Use the 3M tape to stick the sensor on the left side of the laser module.

(3) Stick two cable clamps on the laser module to arrange the connection cable of the sensor. Ensure that the laser beam outlet is not blocked by the cable clamps or cable.

(4) Move the laser module to the left and then to the front, and use cable ties to arrange the connection cable along the drag chain.

Pay attention to the heads of the cable ties. Ensure that they face the inner side of the drag chain, so that they do not interfere with the moving of the drag chain.

(5) Use two more cable ties to arrange the connection cable along the drag chain on the right side of xTool P2, and then use a cable clamp to arrange it to the right side.

3. Install sensors 2

(1) Use the 3M tape to stick the sensors on the inner side of the lid. You are advised to stick them in the positions recommended:

You can modify the positions. You need to pay attention to the length of the cables, however, to ensure that they can connect to the sensor hub that will be stuck on the right side of the casing of xTool P2.

Note: Pay attention to the direction of the connection cable of the sensor when you attach the 3M tape. For xTool P2, you need to ensure that all the connection cables of the sensors can be arranged toward the right side.

Stick the other three sensors in the similar way.

(3) Perform prewiring to determine where the connection cables can be fixed and fit cable clamps on the positions accordingly.

Tips: A cable clamp can hold a maximum of two connection cables.

As shown in the figure, fit cable clamps based on the wiring path of the cable.

Fit cable clamps on the other connection cables , as shown in the following figure.

(4) Use the 3M tape to stick the cable clamps on the machine. You can adjust the positons of the cable clamps to make the wiring neater.

Note: Pay attention to the position under the hydraulic rod. Move the laser module when you determine the position. Ensure that the laser module is not blocked.

4. Install the sensor hub

 (1) Stick the sensor hub to the right side of the casing of xTool P2.

(2) Take the front part of the sensor hub down, wind the connection cables around it, insert the connectors into the ports on it, and put the front part back on the rear part.

Tips: The first port on the sensor hub is provided for sensor 1, the one designed for detecting flames around the laser module.

5. Connect the tube to the control box and xTool P2

6. Connect the sensor hub to the control box

Installation completed!
