Newbie question - apologies if I've missed an obvious answer...

I have UK-style riser base on my S1, so there are only 2 choices of level for the honeycomb - mine is on the the higher level.

If I'm working with normal sheet materials on the honeycomb, the laser module is a long way from the workpiece. This means that the red cross-hairs are quite wide and blurry on the workpiece, so pinpoint positioning is not exactly pinpoint. I wonder if there's a good solution for this?

I can think of 2 options :

1. Raise the workpiece so it's nearer to the laser module, making the cross-hairs thinner.

If engraving only, this could be done just by packing thicker material between honeycomb and workpiece. If cutting, the workpiece needs to be directly on the honeycomb, so the honeycomb itself would need to be raised, presumably by putting some kind of "risers" (e.g. wood battens) on the honeycomb support brackets, then putting the honeycomb on top of those.

2. Some software-based solution on XCS involving lowering the module for the positioning/framing process, but without introducing errors.

I tried using the Z axis "down" button in framing settings dialog on XCS to lower the module so I got thin crosshairs. I did workpiece positioning with the module at that distance from workpiece. When I then did framing the module went back up to the top position and I could see that the framed area was slightly offset from where I'd marked.

Can anyone suggest a way that you can have thin cross-hairs for positioning, but without without losing accuracy?
