I don't always keep my S1 powered on and connected. The computer I use to set up jobs in XCS is not the one I send jobs from. I use an iPad for that, since my S1 is out in my shop. So, I would like to be able to tell XCS that the machine I'm using is an S1, even when XCS is unable to connect to it. That way, I can make all the necessary settings changes from a mouse and keyboard and save the .xcs for processing later from the iPad without having to use the touch controls on the iPad. While using the iPad, I'd much rather just load the preconfigured .xcs file, set my material distance, confirm placement with framing, and hit start.
To do this today, if all I have time for is setting up the job in XCS, I have to go out to the garage, power on the S1, come back to my office, make all the settings adjustments on my objects, save the file, then go back out and turn off the S1. And that back-and-forth is only necessary because XCS won't let me make the necessary changes unless it can actively see the S1 on the network. Please change this, or give me an optional setting I can enable that lets me work in XCS as if my machine was connected.
