I have an xTool F1 Ultra device. I received the XCS 2.1.12 update. It is no longer a beta version. I've been testing the update all day, figuring out what was added, what I liked, what I didn't like, and what I'd like to see in future versions.
Positive:
1. There is a new function for engraving on curved surfaces. It seems to be working properly. It even turned out to engrave a drawing on the curved part of the thermos.
2. In the settings, you can now adjust the illumination level of the engraving area from 0 to 100%.
3. In 3D engraving mode, the first layer cleaning mode has been permanently removed.
Minuses:
1. The location of almost all icons has been changed. It became inconvenient to use the program.
2. It is inconvenient to move the mouse on the canvas. Instead of scaling and moving the canvas with one hand, you have to do it with two hands.
3. It is not possible to rename the name of the material created by the user.
4. You cannot overwrite the current user material if you have changed any parameters. We have to create a new material with a different name.
5. The camera does not accurately position graphic objects on the material. Developers need to mathematically accurately calculate the location of graphic elements, taking into account the height of the camera and its viewing angle.
6. Height measurement does not always work correctly yet. Measuring the height of an empty desktop shows not 0 mm, but 0.2 or 0.5 mm. Sometimes it happens that it does not measure at all (this usually happens when the F1 Ultra comes out of sleep mode).
7. Very poor and weak support in the Lightburn program.
What do you want to see in future releases:
1. Convenient control of zooming and moving the canvas with one hand using all the possibilities of the mouse wheel.
2. In the mode of engraving a curved surface, after building a virtual surface, it is necessary to be able to move the image along this surface. At the moment, the image is simply superimposed on a virtual surface, but it cannot be moved.
3. A special calibration function is required to match the camera and the marker on the desktop. At the moment, the calibration performed at the factory, even at a height of 0 mm, has a discrepancy of 1-1.5 mm.
4. I wanted to be able to change the angle of the engraving of the vector image.
5. Serialization of the same type of layouts is needed.
6. I would like to see the global beam thickness compensation function in the settings. When engraving text (with a small height of letters and consisting of thin lines), it looks thicker than on the screen. The compensation along the contour of the letters in 0.035 - 0.05 mm returns the normal appearance of the letters. The value 0.05 mm is selected because the size of the blue ray is 0.1 mm. It is necessary to compensate at least on the left and on the right. 0.1 / 2 = 0.05 mm.
P.S.: I ask all users who have received the new update to take an active part in the discussion. This way it will be easier for developers to see the shortcomings and user wishes for the new version of the program.
