Is it possible to have an engraved value automatically increment each time it is engraved?  I would like to serialize my parts so they each have a unique number, but don't want to create a new file for each one.  Can this be done programmatically?

Another application I might use this on is length markings on cables - when I load my cable and push the button it engraves the starting value; I feed 1 foot of cable and hit the button and it engraves the next value.  Probably many other uses as well.  Is this possible?
