3/22/2024 – Update at the bottom of a video showing more details.
We just received the F1 yesterday. We have set it up, updated the firmware and downloaded XCS v 1.7.8 (latest available at this point).
When setting up wifi, we cannot successfully set up a wifi connection using XCS from either a Windows or Mac. We can connect from a Windows or Mac using the USB cable, but setting up wifi always results in “WiFi setting failed!” and never works. We have tried three different networks and all fail. (All networks were 2.4Ghz.)
Using the mobile app from our phone, we CAN set up the network connection. Once this has been done from a mobile device, both the Windows and Mac machines can also see the device on the wifi network and connect and control the laser via wifi.
However, when we power the F1 off, the network settings appear to be lost! We have to use a mobile device to set up the F1 again or it will not work on wifi.
The attached screenshot from after setting up the F1 for wifi via a mobile phone shows that the device is connected to wifi, but when looking at the setting, it says Wifi has not been set up. This is not the case. The device has an IP and everything.
When I look at my wifi network on the router, it can be seen that after the F1 is set up to be on wifi with the mobile app, the router shows the F1 connected and the IP address. However, after the F1 is powered off and then turned on again, the wifi network never shows it reconnecting, and the mobile app has to be used to set up the wifi connection again.
This can't be right can it? Surly the F1 is supposed to remember the network settings between being powered off and on. Note that we are NOT unplugging the F1 – just powering it off and then powering it on again a few minutes later.
Can someone help?
Here is a YouTube video showing more of what I'm talking about:
UPDATE 2: PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
This issue has been fixed. My home network uses 10.0.0.x IP addresses. Turns out the F1 doesn't like these. I changed to using 192.168.0.x for my home network and the F1 remembers the network settings, and can be set up via XCS just fine. So xTool -- might want to mention that in your notes, or take a look at whatever is preventing 10.0.0.x IPs from working!
