Issue description
When this issue occurs, O1 cannot connect to xTool Studio via Wi-Fi. Connection detection reports an error for one of its checks, as shown below.
Possible causes
Different errors shown in Connection detection may have different causes. The following describes the possible causes of each error. Click the relevant error to go to its troubleshooting guide.
If the error occurs during proxy and firewall detection, possible causes are:
- A VPN or network acceleration tool is running. This type of software may have enabled the system proxy settings or have changed the computer's DNS settings, preventing xTool Studio from communicating with the O1 normally.
- The firewall was not fully disabled or has custom rules configured. These settings prevent the software from communicating with O1.
- Signal strength error
- The Wi-Fi your computer joins has poor signal strength or is unstable, preventing xTool Studio from communicating with O1 normally.
- The O1 Wi-Fi antenna may have a poor connection.
- Computer health error
- Your computer is running on battery power and has a low battery level.
- Your computer has not been restarted for a long time.
- Third-party security software is installed.
- Network segment consistency check error
- Your computer and O1 are connected to different Wi-Fi networks or network segments. This may prevent them from communicating with each other.
- Local network permission detection error (macOS only)
- Local Network access may not be enabled.
Troubleshooting procedures
Before you begin
- Connect O1 to your computer with a USB data cable and configure its Wi-Fi connection.

- Make sure xTool Studio is up to date, as shown below.

- Make sure your Wi-Fi network has SSID broadcasting enabled and uses WPA or WPA2 encryption, not WPA3.

VPN error
Before you begin: Quit any VPN software that is currently running, such as V2Ray, Clash, or Cloudflare. Then turn off the proxy settings in your system settings.
Check VPN and proxy settings
- Windows:
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy. Make sure the proxy server is turned off, then try connecting O1 again.
- If the connection is not restored, reset the network configuration and try again. This procedure applies to Windows only:
1. Right-click the Windows icon, then open “Command Prompt (Admin)”.
2. Enter the following command and press Enter:netsh winsock reset
3. Restart your computer, then try connecting O1 again.
Note: If you need to keep the VPN software running while connecting O1, add a rule in the VPN software to allow xTool Studio network traffic to bypass the VPN.
- macOS
- Go to System Settings > Network > Wi-Fi > Details > Proxies. Make sure all proxy switches are turned off.

Check firewall settings
Before you begin: Manually turn off the system firewall, then try connecting again. If third-party antivirus software with a network firewall is installed, temporarily quit the software and test the connection again.
- Windows
Search for Firewall, then select Turn Windows Defender Firewall on or off. Turn off Windows Defender Firewall for all network types.

- macOS
Go to Settings > Network > Firewall, then turn off the firewall.

Signal strength error
Check the Wi-Fi environment
Make sure the computer and O1 are in an area with a strong Wi-Fi signal. If the signal is weak, move your computer and O1 closer to the router. You can use the “ping” command to check whether communication between the computer and O1 is working properly.
Connect O1 using a USB cable. In xTool Studio, go to Device settings > Basic Info > Wi-Fi settings to view the IP address currently assigned to O1.
- Windows:
Search for Command Prompt in the search bar. Open it, then enter the following command and press Enter:ping [IP address]
If the response time exceeds 150 milliseconds, communication between your computer and O1 is poor.

- macOS
Search for Terminal. Open it, then enter the following command and press Enter: ping [IP address]
If the response time exceeds 150 ms, communication between your computer and O1 is poor.

Check the O1 Wi-Fi antenna
- Test with a mobile hotspot to rule out router issues
a. Turn on your phone's personal hotspot. Enable Maximize Compatibility in the hotspot settings to use the 2.4 GHz band.

Android

iPhone
b. Use English letters or numbers only for the hotspot name (SSID) and password. Do not use spaces or special characters.
c. Connect both your computer and O1 to the hotspot. Then search for and connect O1 in the software.
d. If O1 still cannot be found or connected when the hotspot signal is normal, the issue is likely related to computer permissions. Proceed to Local network permission detection error.
e. If O1 connects through the hotspot but not through the router Wi-Fi:
i. Check whether AP isolation or firewall rules on the router are blocking communication between devices. You can also check whether other devices can connect to Wi-Fi normally.
ii. If O1 connects only when placed close to the hotspot but disconnects immediately at a distance of 1–2 m, the antenna gain is insufficient. Proceed to antenna hardware inspection.
- Inspect O1 Wi-Fi antenna hardware
Safety note: Turn off O1 and unplug the power cord before starting. Make sure O1 is completely powered off.
- Remove the right casing. Follow the disassembly video and remove only the right-side casing: Disassemble and Reassemble the Enclosure of O1 Omni Printer
- Check the antenna connector and cable. Refer to the diagram below. Inspect the Wi-Fi antenna connector on the mainboard and the antenna extension cable:
- Check for a loose connector: Make sure the antenna connector is securely attached to the metal socket on the mainboard and is not lifted.

- Check for cable damage: Check whether the thin black or gray coaxial cable is pinched by the casing edge, damaged, or has exposed metal shielding.

- Check for a loose connector: Make sure the antenna connector is securely attached to the metal socket on the mainboard and is not lifted.
- If the connector is loose, align it with the socket and press it straight down until it clicks into place. If the cable is severely damaged, replace the Wi-Fi antenna.
Computer health error
- If you are using a laptop, make sure it is connected to the charger, has sufficient battery power, and is not in low power mode.
- If third-party antivirus software is installed, quit the software before trying to connect.
Network segment consistency check error
Connect your computer and O1 to the same Wi-Fi network, then try connecting again. If the connection is still not restored, connect O1 using a USB cable. Then select another Wi-Fi network in the software and configure the Wi-Fi connection again.
Local network permission detection error
Enable Local Network access by following the steps below. If it is already enabled, quit the software and toggle the switch off and back on.
- Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network
- Turn on Local Network access for xTool Studio.
