Updated Sep 18,2026

Issue description

  • The scanned or printed image is blurry, with ink bleeding or feathering along the edges.
  • Overspray occurs when the printhead is too far from the material, causing ink droplets to scatter into a mist.

Possible causes

  • Misalignment or binding along the X-axis
  • Print height too high
  • Printhead overheating
  • Uneven mini or standard baseplate
  • Dirty ink pad or ink scraper

Troubleshooting procedure

Step 1: Check how often the issue occurs

Determine which pattern applies:

  • Intermittent: The issue occurs occasionally, such as after several prints or extended use. Go to Step 2.
  • Frequent: The issue occurs during every print or scan. Go to Step 3.

Step 2: Troubleshoot intermittent occurrences

  1. Launch xTool Studio. In the upper-right corner, select Device control, find Reset all axes, and click Start to reposition the printhead. Print again and check whether the issue is resolved.

  2. Long-press the left or right control to move the printhead. Check the X-axis for binding, unusual noise, or mechanical resistance.

  3. If the issue persists, export the device log and submit a support ticket with your troubleshooting records and video. Wait for a response from after-sales support: https://support.xtool.com/submit-ticket.

Step 3: Troubleshoot frequent occurrences

  1. Check the printing surface
    • Make sure the printing surface is the highest surface. If the material is warped or the printing surface is not the highest surface, overspray may occur.
    • For example, when printing a Nozzle Check pattern, curled paper edges may cause overspray, as shown below.
      image.png
    • If the printing surface is level and remains the highest surface, proceed to the next procedure.
  2. Important: Clean the ink pad and ink scraper
    1. Clean them weekly by following this video tutorial: Clean the Ink Pad & Ink Scraper and Replace the Absorber Foam.
    2. Dirt on these parts may reduce cleaning performance. If the issue persists after cleaning, proceed to the next procedure.
  3. Check whether the printhead temperature is significantly higher than 30°C.
    • If the printhead temperature is too high, overspray may occur.
      image.png
    • Turn on the air conditioner to lower the printhead temperature to approximately 30°C.
    • If the temperature is normal, proceed to the next procedure.
  4. Important: Clean the optical path
    1. A dirty optical path may affect height measurements, causing the print height to be too high and resulting in overspray.
    2. Clean the optical path by following this video tutorial: Clean the Optical Path and CIS Module for O1 Omni Printer.
    3. If the optical path is clean, proceed to the next procedure.
  5. Check the baseplates: Check the mini and standard baseplates for unevenness, as shown below:
    image.png
  6. Recalibrate the printing height: If the optical path is clean and all baseplates are flat and properly installed, calibrate the printing height again. Then run another print test.

  7. If the issue persists, export the device log. Take photos of the entire optical path and submit a support ticket with the logs, photos, and a summary of the troubleshooting steps performed: https://support.xtool.com/submit-ticket.

  8. If adjustment is required, after-sales support will guide you through the baseplate leveling procedure using the appropriate tools.
