Field lens basics
What is a field lens?
A field lens is a key optical component in the galvo optical path. It is installed after the galvo mirrors. After the galvo mirrors redirect the laser beam, the field lens focuses it onto the processing plane.
Where is the field lens installed on xTool X1?
The field lens is installed at the laser output of the 20W diode galvo module.
Of the five laser sources supported by xTool X1, the 20W diode galvo module, 30W Fiber galvo source, 60W MOPA galvo source, and 5W UV galvo source all use the field lens at this location to focus the laser beam onto the material surface.
Field lens options for xTool X1
xTool X1 has two field lenses. Select the correct field lens for your laser source to ensure proper processing results and avoid damaging the laser source.
Fiber/MOPA field lens (red ring)
This field lens comes preinstalled on the 20W diode galvo module and has a red ring.
It is compatible with the 20W diode galvo module, 30W Fiber galvo source, and 60W MOPA galvo source, but not the 5W UV galvo source.
UV/Fiber/MOPA field lens (purple ring)
This field lens is included in the package of the 5W UV galvo source and has a purple ring. To use it, remove the field lens preinstalled on the 20W diode galvo module and replace it with this one.
It is compatible with the 20W diode galvo module, 5W UV galvo source, 30W Fiber galvo source, and 60W MOPA galvo source. Once installed, it can remain in place when switching between different galvo sources.
How to install a field lens
The following example shows how to replace the Fiber/MOPA field lens (red ring) with the UV/Fiber/MOPA field lens (purple ring).
(1) Remove the wide-aperture lens guard and the Fiber/MOPA field lens (red ring).
(2) Install the UV/Fiber/MOPA field lens (purple ring). Remove its protective cover and reinstall the wide-aperture lens guard.

Note
If no galvo module is installed and only the CO₂ laser module is used, field lens selection is not required.
