This section describes how to update the firmware for xTool F2 and provides troubleshooting steps for issues that may occur during the update.

Important Notes Before Updating

  • It is recommended to connect your machine to the computer using a USB cable during the update.
  • Ensure that the power supply, internet connection, and USB connection remain stable throughout the update process.
  • Keep your computer awake and active. Do not let it enter sleep, hibernation, or shut down mode during the update.
  • Do not power off the xTool F2 or disconnect the touchscreen controller or other accessories while the update is in progress.

Update the firmware

1. Ensure that your computer is connected to the Internet.

2. Open xTool Studio on your computer, and then connect xTool F2 to xTool Studio via USB cable.

3. In the top-right corner of xTool Studio, click the ellipsis icon (···) next to the image of xTool F2 and select Device settings.

4. On the pop-up Device settings window, select Basic info, click the Check for updates button under Firmware version. If a new firmware version is found, update the firmware.

Note:
1. xTool Studio will first download the firmware installation package and then automatically install it on xTool F2.
2. During installation, xTool F2 may temporarily disconnect and will reconnect automatically once the update is complete.

5. (Optional) If you find that the Z-axis position is incorrect after the firmware update:

  • In xTool Studio, select Device SettingsHoming to perform Z-axis homing.

  • After homing is complete, press the Power switch on xTool F2 to turn off the device. Then, press it again to restart.

How to deal with firmware update failure

(1) Check the firmware version

Sometimes, the software may prompt you that the firmware update fails even when the update has actually succeeded.

To verify, restart xTool Studio and check the firmware version under Device Settings → Basic Info → Firmware Version.

(2) Check the network

If a network error occurs, restore the network connection and try updating the firmware again.

(3) Check the device connection

  • Ensure that the device is securely connected to xTool Studio via the USB cable.
  • If disconnected, reconnect the USB cable and try again.
Note: A USB connection provides a more stable environment for firmware updates. If you are using Wi-Fi, the update may be interrupted by an unstable connection.

(4) Check the computer and power supply status

The firmware update may fail if any of the following occurs during the process:

  • The computer enters sleep or hibernation mode
  • The computer shuts down
  • xTool F2 loses power

Ensure that your computer remains active and that the power supply to xTool F2 is stable. Then, try updating the firmware again.
