Issue description
If you encounter a pop-up error message titled "Motor driver exception" in xTool software, please follow this troubleshooting guide to resolve this issue.

Possible causes
- Abnormal nozzle capacitance: Abnormal nozzle leads to irregularities in the nozzle capacitance detection results, causing anomalous descent of the welding head base along the z-axis.
- Carriage motor circuit malfunction: Malfunctions in the carriage motor circuit prevent the motor from operating as required.
Detailed procedure
Step 1: Power off devices
Power off both xTool MetalFab CNC Cutter and xTool MetalFab Laser Welder.

Step 2: Check the welding head base movement
- Fefer to Replace the Carriage Controller Board for xTool MetalFab CNC Cutter to remove the carriage cover.
- Manually rotate the gear as shown in the following figures to move the welding head base downwards to its lowest limit.

|
|
- Power on both xTool MetalFab CNC Cutter and xTool MetalFab Laser Welder. Then, observe whether the welding head base can reset automatically.

Step 3: Troubleshoot based on a specific scenario
Scenario 1: Welding head base resets normally
- Replace the nozzle on the cutting tip with another type. For example, if you're using the SaveGas™ nozzle, replace it with the pre-installed nozzle (2 mm cutting nozzle).

- Configure settings in xTool software, process the same pattern, and check if the issue persists.
- If not, it may be the nozzle you used before to be blamed. Please clean the nozzle with an alcohol-dipped lint-free cloth, or replace the ceramics ring for the SaveGas™ nozzle. Then reinstall the nozzle, process again, and check if the issue is resolved.

b. If yes, please prepare the following materials and send them to xTool Customer Service for further assistance:
- A video recording your troubleshooting process and results
- Work log of xTool MetalFab CNC Cutter

Scenario 2: Welding head base fails to reset normally
- Refer to Troubleshoot "Device Homing Exception" of the Z-Axis for xTool MetalFab CNC Cutter to check the cables, motor, and driver board of the carriage.
- Prepare the following materials and send them to xTool Customer Service for further assistance:
- A video recording your troubleshooting process and results
- Work log of xTool MetalFab CNC Cutter
