Calibrate Quick Measurement of xTool P2

Updated Dec 20,2023

Introduction

This guide applies to xTool P2.

About measurement accuracy: This is the discrepancy between the value obtained from the measure function and the real thickness or distance value.

If there is an error of more than 1mm when you use the quick measure function (long-range camera) around the center of the working area, you can troubleshoot first according to the following steps:

  1. Please make sure that the material and slats are even. If they are not, make adjustments and take new measurements.
  2. For measuring transparent or highly reflective material, place a piece of white paper on it before the measurement to prevent errors.
If the solution above does not solve the quick measurement error, please follow these steps to calibrate the quick measurement.

Calibrate the Quick Measurement

Things You Need:

  1. A Windows computer.
  2. The calibration tool for IR distance measurement. You can get the tool from customer support (support@info.xtool.com).

Note: If 3D printing equipment is available, download and print out the calibration tool model with light-colored filament. Put black tape on the same area of the calibration tool model as shown in the picture or blacken it with a black oil-based marker.

Calibration Steps

  1. Download the calibration software.
  2. Put all the slats in position. Make sure they are seated properly, otherwise, the calibration may not be accurate.

  1. Connect the machine to the computer with a USB cable.
  2. Decompress the zip file and run the software. In the software screen, click on the 'Connect' and the 'Clear data' button.

  1. Close the lid and click on the 'Capture' button next to the 6.0 mm thickness text in the software.

  1. After all three thicknesses are captured, click on the 'Generate calibration file' button. You should see a graph and a pop-up window that says 'Generating the calibration file succeeded!' If it fails, please check if the slats are completely seated in position.
