Remove S1's Exhaust Fan

Overview

This tutorial outlines the procedure for safely removing and replacing the exhaust fan of S1. This procedure is necessary in troubleshooting scenarios such as:
  • The exhaust fan fails to start.
  • The exhaust fan exhibits issues such as noise, stuttering, or vibration during operation.

Important safety & preparation notes

Power safety

Prior to beginning this procedure, ensure S1 is powered OFF and completely disconnected from its power source to prevent electrical shock.

Stable positioning

Place S1 on a solid, level surface to ensure stability while working.

Prerequisites

  • A 2mm hex screwdriver
  • A 2.5mm hex screwdriver
  • Scissors
  • Cable ties

Note: Please carefully retain all screws and the light shield strip that are removed, as they will be needed for reassembly. Do not discard anything.

 

How to do it

#1 Remove the riser base

Refer to this video to disassemble S1's riser base: https://support.xtool.com/article/1115?from=Riser+Base+for+S1&url=/product/27.

 

#2 Remove the bottom fixing screws

  1. Flip the machine over to locate the screws shown in the image reference.
  2. Use the 2mm screwdriver to remove them one by one.

     

 

#3 Disconnect the main control board cover and emergency stop switch cable

  2. Remove the main control board cover.
  3. Disconnect the emergency stop switch cable.

#4 Remove the two rotational connectors

  1. Locate the two rotational connectors next to the main control board (see image reference).
  2. Carefully remove the connectors.

#5 Remove the enclosure

  1. The enclosure can now be removed.
  2. You may lift it with assistance if needed.
  3. Slightly pull the middle section on both sides of the enclosure outward to make it easier to remove.

 

#6 Locate the component to be replaced

After removing the casing, the internal structure of the machine will be visible.

  1. Locate the exhaust fan.
  2. Remove the screws using the 2.5mm screwdriver.

  1. Carefully disconnect the exhaust fan connection cable.

#7 Remove the cable ties and tape

  1. The fan and mainframe are secured using adhesive tape and cable ties. Remove these fixings.


#8 Remove the exhaust fan

Once the fixings are removed, the fan can be taken out.
