Overview
This guide provides troubleshooting procedures for addressing double line issues in laser engraving patterns on P2 Series. The solution approach varies depending on whether the double lines appear throughout the entire workpiece or only in parts of the design.
We’ll be using the Optical Path Setup feature in xTool Creative Space to help identify what might be causing the double lines and guide you through steps to resolve it.

Prerequisites
- A windows or a Mac computer.
- Wooden board for testing.
- xTool Creative Space (XCS).
Problem Identification
- For double lines throughout the entire workpiece → Follow the Optical Path Setup procedure
- For double lines in specific parts of the design → Skip to Other Potential Causes
Preparation
Remove the first mirror
- Remove the rear cover:
- Locate and unscrew the fixing screws.
- Carefully detach the cover.


- Detach the first mirror:
- Locate the mirror. It is beside the water tank.
- Apply gentle force to remove it (the mirror is magnetically mounted).
- Position a wooden board at the laser tube output port, between the first mirror position and the water tank.

Troubleshooting procedures
Optical path setup test
- Access Optical path setup
- Open Device settings by clicking the gear icon in the upper-right corner after connecting the computer to the machine.
- Locate Optical path setup and select Test.

- Execute test sequence.
- Click Start (no need to read the detailed information here as it is irrelevant to our troubleshooting procedure).

- Select Ready Next to proceed (you don't need those items in this troubleshooting procedure).

- Click Click to move the laser module and wait for the laser module to stop moving, then click Next.

- Press the Pulse button to observe the laser mark on the wooden board.

- Click Start (no need to read the detailed information here as it is irrelevant to our troubleshooting procedure).
Results analysis

Scenario #1: If double laser spots appear
- Diagnosis: Laser tube malfunction.
- Next Steps: Contact support@xtool.com for a laser tube replacement.
Scenario #2: If single laser spot appears
- Proceed to Other potential causes section.
Other potential causes
- Verify all mirrors are:
- Clean and free from debris;
- Properly secured;
- Correctly positioned.

- Test and calibrate the optical path.

- Check if there are any scratches or other marks on the laser lens. If there are, a new laser lens needs to be replaced.
