Q1: Why is the noise level of the Air-Compress Assist higher than that of the Air Assist Set?

  • The Air-Compress Assist, an upgrade from the previous Air Assist Set, features a substantially higher airflow capacity. This enhancement necessitates increased power usage, resulting in a trade-off of a higher noise level. At a one-meter distance, the noise level is approximately 62 decibels.

Q2: Can dirt accumulation on the Air-Compress Assist filter impair its performance, and would this suggest the filter needs replacement?

  • The filter cotton improves air filtration and diminishes noise. Dirt build-up on the filter can abate the airflow, resulting in suboptimal processing outcomes. To assess airflow, process the same project file and compare the results. If there’s noticeable charring on the material, it’s time to replace the filter.
  • Operate the device away from environments with high temperatures and humidity to prevent damage.
  • When replacing the filter, ensure to retain the two small internal filter pieces (refer to the image below) to preserve the filter’s effectiveness and noise reduction capabilities.

Q3: Is it possible to use a power adapter purchased from a third party with the Air-Compress Assist?

  • For optimal performance, utilize a standard DC24V adapter included in the product package with a current rating of 5A or higher. xTool does not recommend powering the Air-Compress Assist with a third-party power adapter. This is because using an adapter that does not conform to the product specification may lead to malfunctions, error alerts, and potential damage to the device.

Q4: What steps should I take if the foot pads of the Air-Compress Assist fall off?

  • The foot pads may come loose due to jostling during transport. The package includes four additional silicone foot pads for such instances.
  • Should a foot pad detach, simply reattach it to its designated spot at the base of the air pump.

Q5: What function does the Type-C port serve on the Air-Compress Assist?

  • The Type-C port is designated for conducting wired firmware updates.
  • For M1, D1, or D1 Pro users to perform Air-Compress Aissist firmware updates, a wired connection is required.
  • In contrast, S1 users have the flexibility to choose between wired and wireless update methods for the accessory's firmware update.
  • It is crucial to use the original USB cable included in your device for wired updates to prevent any update failures.
  • Using a third-party USB C cable for firmware updates may result in failure.

Wired Update Procedure:
1. Connect the Type-C connector to the Air-Compress Assist and the USB-A connector to a computer.
2. Activate the developer mode in the XCS software to initiate a forced firmware update.

Wireless Update Procedure:
1. Insert the 2.4G wireless dongle (included in the Air-Compress Assist package) into the machine.
2. Establish a connection between the Air-Compress Assist and your laser engraver.
3. Follow the on-screen prompts in XCS to complete the firmware update.

Q6: Why can't my Air-Compress Assist link with the host machine?

-1. Verify firmware and plugin version

  • Ensure that the S1 firmware version is V40.32.011.2025.01.B8 or higher.
  • Ensure that the XCS plugin version is above 1.4.0.
  • Update the firmware and plugins if necessary. For a stable connection between the accessory and S1, it is essential that the firmware versions conform to the specified requirements.

Update Guidance:
For S1 firmware update, refer to this guide: Upgrade the Firmware for xTool S1 for advice.
Plugin updates occur automatically when your computer is connected to the Internet and XCS restarts.

-2. Check the connection between the wireless dongle and S1

  • Verify that the dongle is properly inserted into the accessory port of the S1 machine and that S1 is powered on.
  • If pairing fails, check for loose connections or try another port.

-3. Verify the pairing status

  • The wireless connection indicator light (refer to the image below) will illuminate when the Air-Compress Assist and the wireless dongle are successfully paired.

Q7: What steps should be taken if the Air-Compress Assist is experiencing exceptions?

  • In the event of an Air-Compress Assist malfunction, indicated by a flashing fault indicator light (refer to the image below), follow these steps:
    1. Power Cycle: Disconnect the Air-Compress Assist from the power source and then reconnect it.
    2. Inspect Air Passage: Examine the air tube for any obstructions or bends that could impede airflow.
    3. Support Contact: If the issue remains unresolved after these checks, reach out to xTool Customer Service at support@xtool.com. Include a detailed description of the problem and a list of the troubleshooting results you have undertaken for further assistance.

Q8: Is a knocking sound when shaking the Air-Compress Assist cause for concern?

  • Hearing a subtle knocking sound while shaking the accessory is natural and not indicative of a defect. This occurs due to the flexible mounting of the internal components within the casing, which allows for some movement.

Q9: Is there a correct orientation for installing cotton filter in the Air-Compress Assist?

  • YES. The filter cotton must be positioned correctly for optimal performance. The concave side of the filter cotton is designed to face outward, and the convex side should be oriented inward towards the interior of the device.

Q10: Are there any specific placement precautions for the Air-Compress Assist when in use?

  • It is crucial to position the Air-Compress Assist upright during operation. Placing it on its side may result in internal wear and amplify vibrations, which could compromise the device’s integrity. Additionally, ensure that the side and rear ventilation holes remain unobstructed to prevent overheating and potential damage to the accessory.

Q11: Where is the  Air-Compress Assist's wireless dongle?

  • The WiFi Dongle for the Air-Compress Assist is located inside the protective cover of the Air-Compress Assist. For detailed instructions on locating the dongle, please refer to the images below.
  • For more on the operation of S1 with the Air-Compress Assist, refer to its user manual:  Use xTool Air-Compress Assist on xTool S1 - xTool Support Center
