xTool S1 with all laser modules.
About This Guide
You may see symptoms listed as three different scenarios below.
Please find the case that suits you and follow the instructions to troubleshoot.
Note: If you are looking for how to configure the Wi-Fi connection, please see this guide.
Troubleshoot Per Scenario
Case 1: The Wi-Fi Name Won't Show in Wi-Fi Setting
Solution
#1 Upgrade the Firmware
Upgrade all firmware to the latest version. For details, please refer to this guide.
For upgrading the firmware in the developer mode, you can refer to the video below:
#2 Check the Antenna Wire of S1
Remove the rear interface board of the machine.
Check if the antenna wire on the main control board is connected properly.
Unplug and replug the antenna wire to make sure of a firm connection.
#3 Check the Network Environment
Check the following:
Make sure your computer and the device are under the same network.
Make sure the Wi-Fi name and password consist of only letters and numbers. You can reset the router WiFi name and password, restart the XCS software, and then configure it again.
Make sure you enter the correct Wi-Fi name and password and try again.
Make sure the Wi-Fi network doesn't require authentication other than the password.
Make sure the connected Wi-Fi network is on the 2.4GHz band, not the 5GHz band. If you are using a dual-band Wi-Fi that combines 2.4G and 5G, try setting up a separate 2.4G network for configuration and connection.
After checking the network as described above, if you still can't connect via Wi-Fi:
Get a smartphone and enable the hotspot and place it next to the S1 machine.
If you are using an iPhone, enable the 2.4G band option shown below.
#4 Check the Wi-Fi Signal Strength
Ensure your router is close to the machine and avoid walls that could weaken the Wi-Fi signal. You can use Lightburn to check signal strength.
Refer to this guide to learn how to connect Lightburn with S1 and usage.
After connecting to the machine, enter the command M2000 in the Lightburn Console interface to view the Wi-Fi names detected by the current machine, which can help assess signal strength.
If you enter the M2000 command and get no response, please enter the M2001 "WiFi name" “WiFi password” command to see if the S1 machine can detect the specific WiFi name and password.
For example, if your WiFi network name is Test WiFi and the password is 123456789, enter M2001 "Test WiFi" "123456789" in the Lightburn Console interface. If S1 successfully detects this WiFi signal, it will respond with OK and return the same command.
#5 Try Using the XCS Mobile App
Refer to this guide article to configure Wi-Fi in the XCS application:
If configured successfully, the IP address of the device can be found in the application.
Connect the computer to the Wi-Fi configured in the application. (Not the hotspot of the machine)
Enter the IP address of the device to establish the connection in XCS on the computer.
Case 2: The Wi-Fi Setting Failed
Solution
#1 Upgrade the Firmware
Upgrade all firmware to the latest version. For details, please refer to this guide.

After checking the network as described above, if you still can't connect via Wi-Fi:
Get a smartphone and enable the hotspot and place it next to the S1 machine.
If you are using an iPhone, enable the 2.4G band option shown below.
#4 Disable the VPN and Firewall
The VPN, firewall, and antivirus software on your computer can affect the XCS's ability to connect to the machine via Wi-Fi. Please disable these functions on your computer, and then restart both the XCS and the machine.
Case 3: The Device Name Won't Show After Connection
Solution
#1 Upgrade the firmware
After you configure the network on the XCS interface, the indicator light will turn to a steady purple, indicating that the Wi-Fi connection has been successful.
If you cannot find the machine in the Wi-Fi list, it may be because your router has assigned different IP address segments to the S1 and the computer, preventing the XCS from locating the device.
For example, if the computer's IP is 10.10.100.218, but the router has assigned the IP 10.10.101.218 to the S1, the difference in network segments will prevent the XCS from finding the S1 across segments.
Please update your firmware as the latest version has fixed the issue.
#2 Check for the firewall/router restrictions
If the firewall is enabled or the router has network restrictions, your PC may be unable to connect to S1.
Follow the instructions below to perform a Ping test to troubleshoot the issue.
1. Steps for performing a Ping test:
Access the interface and perform a Ping test:
For Windows:
Press the Windowskey + R.
Typecmd and press Enter.
Type ping <IP address> and press Enter to check the result.
For example: Type ping 10.40.121.141.
For Mac:
Click Applications >Utilities > Terminal.
Type ping -c <number of times to ping<IP address>
For example: Type ping -c 4 10.40.121.141 (where -c 4 indicates sending 4 ping requests).
Note: Click the gear icon on the upper right and go to Device settings -> Basic info to get S1's IP address in XCS.
2. Check the Ping test results
As shown in the picture above, to ping the IP address 10.40.121.141 on a Windows computer, type ping 10.40.121.141 in the Command Prompt.
If the ping test returns a response similar to the image below, this rules out network restrictions and the connection is normal. Please contact the xTool support team for further assistance.
If the ping test returns a response similar to the image below, the connection is abnormal. Please contact your router provider, or try disabling your firewall or antivirus software.
