I have a 2011 macbook pro High Sierra 10.13.6, running XCS 2.4.27 (it did this on the previous version as well).  Trying to process a simple object - one of the squares included with XCS.  It just sits in the preview window with “preparing for preview…” and the spinner spinning.  I left it the last time for about 20 minutes, so it's not an issue with a complex item taking a while.  The same box on my iPad is almost instant.  Is there some option/setting/update that I need to download to make this work?  I prefer using the laptop over the version of XCS on the iPad but not if I can't actually process anything.  TIA

P.S.  I have a newer macbook and it processes fine on that one, but I can't use that laptop with the laser - long story.
