I recently purchased the XTool S1 Deluxe Bundle via Amazon with the rotary and riser base. However, what wasn't mentioned anywhere was that once you install the riser base, which requires about 20 minutes of messing with screws and moving heavy things, the unit becomes unusable for any standard, low height project. The laser cannot lower enough to reach the honeycomb bed. Essentially, you can only engrave larger objects or use the RA2 rotary when the riser base is attached.
This is a fundamental design flaw.
And what's particularly bothersome is that there is all of one line of small text that mentions you'll need to raise the level of anything flat you want to burn when the riser base is installed.
Note that this is not the Class 4 riser base that supports the conveyor function and has adjustable slots for the base plate. For the Class 1, you must completely detach the base plate, then screw it into the riser base, and then carefully assemble the unit.
It is not adjustable in any way. So if you do a couple of tumblers and then want to burn a set of coasters, you must then either 1) find some kind of fireproof way to raise things up to where the laser can reach them (which means it's unlikely you can use the honeycomb) or 2) disassemble the machine from the riser plate and re-screw the base plate/crumb plate and then re position the laser in your working area. Doing all of that increases the risk of damage to the unit.
So essentially, the Class 1 Riser Base sold with the XTool S1 Deluxe Bundle on Amazon will render your unit either useless or unsafe for anything other than tall objects until you remove it.
My suggestion is to 1) discontinue the Class 1 riser base, 2) Add more significant warnings/instructions describing this fundamental limitation of this version of the base, 3) offer a bed-raising accessory that will allow the XTool S1 to be usable for standard projects when the Class 1 riser base is installed, and 4) Offer a trade-in or significant replacement discount for buyers to be able to swap out the Class 1 for a more usable Class 4 (plus they may invest in the conveyer attachment as a result).
