Addresse Major Camera Positioning Deviations in XCS
Updated Aug 30,2024
Updated Aug 30,2024

Issue description

  • After processing is complete and the camera is refreshed, the image on xTool Creative Space (XCS) does not align with the actual material processing path.

Why does it happen

  • Camera positioning is determined by the image algorithm. Given the current technological constraints, it is all but impossible to achieve error-free precision.
  • Hence, a positioning deviation within 1.5mm is generally considered natural when processing 3mm thick materials in the central area of the baseplate.
  • The error, however, tends to increase when the material to be processed is positioned farther from the camera, when the material surface is lower than the baseplate (at the factory position), or when the material surface is uneven.

How to fix it

#1 Preview before processing

  1. Use the Framing function on XCS to preview the processing area to ensure that the expected area of the material is processed.
  2. If the issue persists, please move on to the next step.

#2 Place the material close to the camera

  1. Position the material to be processed as close to the camera as possible and try again.
  2. If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

#3 Use materials with flat surfaces

  1. Make sure the material's surface is flat.
  2. It is recommended to choose materials with flat surfaces.

#4 Adjust the Height of the Material

  1. Adjust the material height to match the factory position of the baseplate.
  2. It is advisable to avoid using the triangular prism for processing since it will increase the material height.
  3. To minimize position errors, opt for the laser flat for processing instead of the open plane, as the former reduces positioning deviation to a minimum.

If the camera positioning error is beyond the acceptable error range and the above steps do not help, please contact our xTool customer service at support@xtool.com for further assistance with the following info:

  1. Your work log exported from XCS (refer to the picture below).
  2. A video demonstrating the camera positioning error.
