Troubleshoot No Processing After Button Press for M1

Updated Sep 23,2024

Issue description

  • When utilizing xTool Creative Space (XCS) to prepare the design file and configure the parameters, you may encounter a situation where, upon hitting the start button to initiate the process, nothing happens. Follow the instructions below to troubleshoot different scenarios.

Scenario 1

  • After the button is pressed, the software interface indicates "Processing," but the machine does not perform any action while the laser module remains at its home position. When the button is pressed again, however, XCS seems to naturally switch to "Processing Paused."

Troubleshooting

#1 Upgrade XCS

  1. Verify if the M1’s firmware and the XCS version are up-to-date.
  2. If they are not, please upgrade to the latest versions and attempt the process again.
  3. If this does not resolve the issue, proceed to the next step.

#2 Cross-test with another project file

  1. Perform a cross-test with a different project file to determine whether the issue is induced by the design in the original project file.
  2. Evaluate the results:
    1. If the machine operates properly, this pins down the cause of the issue to the design in the original project file. If possible, forward the project file in question to the xTool Customer Service team at support@xtool.com for analysis.
    2. If the issue persists with a different project file, please contact the xTool Customer Service for further assistance.

Scenario 2

  • After the button is pressed, the software interface still displays "Ready" and repeated presses do not result in any changes.

Troubleshooting

#1 Close the lid

  • Check if the lid is closed before processing.
    • If not, close it properly.
  • If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

💡Note As a safety precaution, M1 won't process when the lid is open.

#2 Check the lid magnets

  • Check if the lid magnets (refer to the image below) are missing.
    • If any magnet is missing or has lost its magnetism, please contact xTool customer service at support@xtool.com for further assistance.
  • If this is not the case, proceed to the next step.

💡Note If the magnets are absent, the device cannot detect whether the lid is closed. Hence, the device won't process.

#3 Check the hall switch

  • Open the lid to check if there's a "beep" sound (the device's alert sound is enabled by default; if it's turned off, please enable it in the device settings).
    1. If not, this indicates either the hall switch connection cable is loose or the hall switch has broken down (only in rare cases).
    2. Replug the hall switch connection cable or replace it with a new one. For more details, refer to the video tutorial below.
  • If this is not the case, proceed to the next step.

#4 Check the physical start button connection cable

  1. With the lid open, press the physical start button to check if the indicator light changes color.
  2. Evaluate the results:
    • If it doesn't, this suggests the start button connection cable is loose.
      • Turn off M1 and unplug its power supply. Secure the button connection cable (refer to the image below) by referring to the video tutorial above.

      • Check whether the white connector (refer to the image below) for the button connection on the main control board is loose. If it is, please secure it tightly.

    • If the issue persists after securing the cable, it indicates a malfunction in the physical start button.
  • If the issue persists despite following the above solutions, please contact the xTool Customer Service at support@xtool.com for further assistance. Include your device work log and a list of the troubleshooting results you have already attempted to help us determine the appropriate course of action promptly.
