Issue description
When you attempting to connect M1 to your computer via Wi-Fi, if the machine’s name does not appear in the device list, refer to this guide for troubleshooting advice.
Troubleshooting
#1 Check for VPN interference
Verify if any VPN software is running, as it may prevent the M1 from accessing the correct IP address.
If VPN software is active, disable it before attempting to connect.
If this is not the case, move on to the next step.
#2 Check your Wi-Fi environment
Verify if the Wi-Fi strength is too weak to provide a stable connection between your computer and the engraver.
If so, move both the computer and the M1 closer to the Wi-Fi router to ensure a stronger signal.
If this is not the case, proceed to the next step.
#3 Check Wi-Fi name & password
Verify that the Wi-Fi name and password do not contain any special characters such as Chinese or Japanese symbols. It is recommended to use only English letters and numbers.
Ensure that the password is correct and under 28 characters.
If this is not the case, continue to the next step.
#4 Check Wi-Fi frequency
M1 only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signals. If your router is set to 5GHz, switch it to 2.4GHz.
If this is not the case, move to the next step.
#5 Configure new Wi-Fi network
Use a USB connection to configure the Wi-Fi on XCS, or configure the Wi-Fi using an iPad or mobile device.
After successfully connecting, attempt to use the Wi-Fi connection again.
If this is not the case, proceed to the next step.
#6 Ensure the same network environment
Ensure that both the computer and the device are on the same Wi-Fi network.
If this is not the case, proceed to the next step.
#7 Check if the device is hidden
Ensure a USB connection and follow the instructions below to connect via IP address.
Copy-paste the following link into a browser: http://201.234.3.1:8080/net?action=getssid.
The page will display the last connected Wi-Fi name of M1. If it shows {"result":"failed"} or if the Wi-Fi name does not match the intended network, it means the devices are not within the same Wi-Fi environment. Hence, reconfigure the Wi-Fi settings in XCS.
Copy-paste the following link into a browser: http://201.234.3.1:8080/net?action=ifconfig.
The page will display M1’s IP address. Select and copy the IP address next to “wlan0-ip”.
In the XCS, select the IP connection method and paste the copied IP address before clicking "Connect".
#8 Check the Wi-Fi antenna cable
Follow the instructions below to if the Wi-Fi antenna cable (refer to the image below) is disconnected.
Power M1 off.
Flip M1 upside-down and remove the main control board protective cover.
Cover the laser module with the baseplate.
If so, reconnect the cable properly.
