In this blog post, we'll show you how to preprocess vector graphics in Inkscape to simplify paths and smooth angles. This will ultimately lead to better results when you import your designs into XCS.

Step 1: Create an Object in Inkscape

Start by opening Inkscape and creating a new object. You can draw a shape, import an image, or use one of the pre-existing tools to create your design.

Step 2: Convert Object to Path

Use the Selection Tool (arrow icon) to click on the object, making sure it's active for editing. Navigate to the "Path" menu in the top toolbar, then click "Object to Path." This action converts your object into a path, ready for editing with the "Edit Paths by Nodes" tool.

Step 3: Edit Paths by Nodes

Select the "Edit Paths by Nodes" tool (or press "F2" on your keyboard) to display editing options for path nodes.

Step 4: Add and Remove Nodes

With the path nodes visible, you can add or remove nodes by clicking the corresponding buttons in the tool menu. For example, use the "Delete selected nodes" button to remove nodes, creating a simplified path.

Use your mouse to click and drag nodes and handles, customizing the path to your desired shape.
