I’m sure you have imported images to XCS, and some of them need editing. Today’s tip gives you a closeup of the Magic Wand tool. Let’s look at the details now!

To use this function, click the Edit image button and the Magic Wand icon.

V2.1 or later
V1.7 or before

The Magic Wand selects [pixels with similar colors]. Just click on the part you want to delete and it will be erased!

The Fuzziness value indicates the color difference between the subject and background.

If you set a low fuzziness value, only similar colors will be deleted. You can see from the above picture that some background colors remain around the edges.

To erase those parts, we have to increase the fuzziness value.

As seen from the picture above, with a larger fuzziness value, the edges are removed more accurately.

If you set a high fuzziness value, certain areas of the subject might be mistakenly removed. So, the value should be adjusted according to the color difference.

When the subject and background colors are similar, fuzziness can be crucial, but note that you may need to try several times.

When the subject and background colors are very different, you can easily erase the background by sliding the fuzziness bar to 100.
