Today you will learn how to make custom T-shirts with your M1 and XCS.

Before we get started, let’s see the supplies you need in advance:

• T-shirt
• Iron-on heat transfer vinyl (choose the color you like)
• M1
• A Computer with XCS
• Heat press or iron

Iron-on transfers, in a nutshell, are pictures that can be imprinted on fabric. The paper is on one side, and the image that will be ironed on (a mirrored image) is on the other. The image is transferred to the fabric by heat after placing the transfer paper on it and ironing over the paper’s back.

Alright. Here come the start-to-finish instructions!

Instructions:

Step 1:

Connect the M1 with your computer.

Step 2:

Open XCS and import the graphic you want. You can also manipulate the text on XCS

This is what I’m using:

 Also, remember to adjust the size and position of your design.

Since you are using iron-on, make sure you click [Reflect] on the menu bar.

Step 3:

Paste the iron-on paper on a backing plate and put it inside the machine.

Step 4:

Set the parameters and start to process.

I’m using PU Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV), one of the xTool official materials, so I can go on and blade cut with the recommended settings.

Step 5:

Once it’s done, we might use tools like a knife or hook to remove the excessive part from around the design. This step is called “weeding”.

Step 6:

Ironing

Heat and pressure activate the adhesive on the HTV, and that’s why we use a heat press/ iron.

Position your design on your surface with the clear plastic sheet on top so the design reads correctly.

Press down on your iron and apply pressure to your design for around 10-20 seconds.

Be sure to check the design to see how it is going

Step 7:

Final move! You can remove the carrier sheet and call it an end.
