Framing allows you to preview the actual processing area, making it easier to adjust the placement of your material as needed.
During the framing process, the laser module emits a beam and walks along the actual processing area, giving you a clear view of where the laser will engrave so that you can make sure the material doesn't exceed the border or just not on spot.
How to Use Framing Function?
Here's how you can use the framing function:
Once you have finished adjusting your print and settings, navigate to the bottom right corner of the parameter setting panel and click Framing. Then you should see the laser module emit a beam and walk along the actual processing area.
Adjust the Framing Power & Speed
Adjusting the power and speed of the framing is essential to ensure precision in laser cutting and engraving. Here, we'll provide you with easy-to-follow tips on how to adjust the framing settings using xTool Creative Space.
To begin, click the setting button next to the framing button in the software to set the function of your current device. Depending on your device, there may be slight variations in the power and speed of framing.

Important things to keep in mind:
xTool D1/D1 Pro does not support adjusting the power used for framing after selecting Red Cross positioning. Additionally, after replacing the red laser head, the power of the frame can not be adjusted.
It's crucial to avoid applying too much power, which may burn the material you're working with. Therefore, you should always ensure you adjust the power and speed settings accordingly.
If the laser head power is inaccessible or the laser head is not installed (the power is 0), only the framing speed is adjustable.
Laser cylindrical mode does not support adjusting the speed of framing. If you're working with cylindrical materials, you should keep this in mind when adjusting your framing setting
FAQs
How to Choose Between Rect&Outline When Using F1?
Rect: The laser will frame a rectangle indicating the maximum processing range
Outline: The laser will frame the exact shape of the object, allowing you to see the processing position more intuitively. However, it's not advisable to use this option when dealing with complex shapes that contain too many irregular lines as it may cause laser stroboscopic.
What should you do if the function doesn't work?
[D-series] Check the installation of the TF card. The framing function may not work if the TF card is not installed correctly.
Ensure that you have updated to the latest firmware.
Check that the timing belt and other cores are properly installed.
Why do the visibility and intensity of the framing laser vary? At times it is easily visible while at others it is faint.
The framing laser only emits when your speed becomes stable at the preset level. It doesn't turn on during the acceleration phase.
