This article applies to:
D1 and D1 Pro with all laser modules.

Issue description

When you have configured the Wi-Fi setup, but the name of the machine cannot be found in the "Connect devices" window of XCS (as shown below), this issue may be ascribed to the network environment or software blocking. Please refer to this guide to identify the root causes and troubleshoot the issue.

#1 Check the network

  1. For smooth Wi-Fi communication between the computer and the machine, ensure that both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Otherwise, if, for example, your computer is connected to Wi-Fi "A" while the machine is on Wi-Fi "B", communication won't go through.
  2. For more details about the Wi-Fi setup for the machine, refer to this article: Connect the Device Through Wi-Fi
  3. If this is not the case, move on to the next step.

#2 Check the Wi-Fi signal

  1. Check if the Wi-Fi signal or the mobile hotspot signal is too weak for the machine's connection.
    • If so, switch to a Wi-Fi network or mobile hotspot with a strong signal.
  2. If this is not the case, proceed to the next step.

#3 Check VPN, anti-virus, and firewall software

  1. Check if any VPN software is currently running in the background.
    • If so, turn it off.
  2. Check for the presence of anti-virus software.
    • If antivirus software is active, deactivate it to prevent blocking the machine.
  3. Follow the steps below to determine if the firewall is enabled, potentially impeding the computer connection with the machine via Wi-Fi. Note: The instructions provided below demonstrate the process on the Win11 system. For Windows systems versions prior to 11, the procedures are similar.
    1. Click the "Search" icon and enter the "control panel"; then click "Open".
    2. Click the "Windows Defender Firewall".
    3. Select the "Turn Windows Defender Firewall or off".
    4. Check if the firewalls for the domain network, private network, and public network are enabled. If so, click to disable them.
