This article explains how to use xTool F2 Ultra UV to perform inner engraving on irregularly shaped glass sold by xTool.
Note:
1. Only Class 4 laser modules of xTool F2 Ultra UV support inner engraving.
2. The inner engraving feature for irregularly shaped glass requires xTool Studio V1.10 or later.
3. Purchase link: K9 crystal
Preparations
Materials required:
1. xTool irregularly shaped glass (a rectangular K9 crystal candle holder is used as an example in this article)

2. A caliper or ruler (for measuring the actual thickness of the glass)
3. A pair of gloves (to avoid leaving fingerprints on the glass surface during cleaning, which may affect the engraving quality)
4. Inner engraving lens (for replacing the surface engraving lens for inner engraving)
5. A sheet of white paper (for checking where the elements to be engraved are projected onto the glass)
Step 1: Take out the rectangular K9 crystal candle holder, measure and record its thickness as shown for later input into the software.

Step 2: Clean the glass and the riser top plate, then place the glass on the plate.
Note:
1. Wear gloves when cleaning the glass to avoid leaving fingerprints on its surface, which may affect the engraving quality.
2. If you haven't installed the riser yet, install it first. For installation instructions, refer to the Inner Engraving Pack User Manual.

Step 3: Press the power button to turn off F2 Ultra UV, replace the surface engraving lens with the inner engraving lens, and then turn the device back on.
Note:
1. If the inner engraving lens is already installed on the device, skip this step.
2. The inner engraving lens comes in several color versions, and the exact color depends on the product you receive.

Step 4: Open xTool Studio and click "+ New Project".

Step 5: Switch the device on the software to your F2 Ultra UV.

Step 6: Set the mode to "Inner Engraving".

Step 7: Click "Next".

Step 8: Click "Preset-Shaped Glass", select the glass you use, input the thickness you have measured, and click "Next".

Step 9: Click "Import Canvas" in the bottom-right corner of the page.

Step 10: Click the "Top View" icon.

Step 11: Click the "Adjust Material Position" icon.

Step 12: Click "Reflect" or "Rotate" according to the actual position of the glass.

Step 13: Enter the desired rotation angle, and press Enter/Return.

Step 14: Check whether the position of the glass in the software matches its actual position. If it does, click "Complete".

Step 15: Click the "Import varied design elements" icon.

Step 16: Select a 3D model.

Note: You can also import a 3D model from your computer or create one using AImake.

Step 17: Adjust the size of the 3D model.

Step 18: Click the icons at the bottom of the page to view the relative positions of the glass and the 3D model from different angles.
Step 19: Adjust the size of the 3D model as needed using the toolbar at the top of the page, and then set the processing parameters in the right panel.
Note: Refraction and scattering within the glass may cause slight deviations in the engraving position. Therefore, avoid placing the elements to be engraved too close to the edges of the glass.

Step 20: Select a material.

Step 21: Click "Framing" to preview the approximate engraving position of the 3D model inside the glass.
Note: Place the prepared white paper on top of the glass to check the projected positions of the elements to be engraved.

Make sure the protective enclosure is fully lowered before clicking "Framing".

Step 22: Click "Framing" again to stop framing.

Step 23: (Optional) Click "Preview" to check the engraving position of the 3D model inside the glass in the software.

Step 24: (Optional) Click "Lights Off", "Warm light", or "Cold light" as needed. After previewing, close the preview pop-up window.

Step 25: Lift the protective enclosure, take out the white paper, pull down the protective enclosure, and click "Process".

Step 26: (Optional) Click "Preview Processing Path" as needed.

Step 27: Click "Start".

Step 28: Press the XTOOL button on the touchscreen controller as instructed.
