AI Material Recognition helps you quickly identify a material and get recommended parameters together with processing precautions.
The recommended parameters are not generated out of thin air. Once a material is recognized, the parameters come from the same officially tested data that powers every other feature in Studio — AI simply gives you a faster, smoother way into the parameter library.
Currently 8 devices are supported: M2, P3, P2, P2S, F2, F2 Ultra, F2 Ultra (Single), F2 Ultra UV.
M2 is supported by Studio 1.7 onward; The other devices are supported by Studio 1.9 onward.
Steps
Step 1 : Capture the material

- Open the material selection window and click AI Material Recognition. If you are not signed in, sign in first.
- Upload a photo of the material: capture it with the device camera, or upload an existing image. For a more accurate result, you can upload up to three photos of the same item. A short description also helps (e.g. "black acrylic" or "walnut, oiled finish"), though it is optional.
- If you shoot with the device’s built-in camera, the material thickness is measured automatically in the same step.

Step 2 : Review the recognition results
When several materials are highly similar, the system lists all of the close matches so you can pick the correct one. If none of them fits, you can also ask the AI Assistant.

Step 3 :Recommended parameters & precautions
- The analysis result shows the analysis process, the recommended parameters, and the processing precautions. If the parameters match an entry in the material library, those library parameters are used directly and marked "Officially verified by testing." For materials not in the library, the recommendations are derived from patterns summarized across a large body of officially tested materials.
- For materials where no parameters can be recommended, the system suggests running a material test matrix to find the parameters and results best suited to that material.

Step 4:Save and apply
Click Apply & Save to save the material automatically. A new material with an AI tag then appears in your "My Materials" list; when you apply it, any recommended parameters available for the current processing type are applied automatically.
Note: Recommended parameters are currently supported only in Lasering on flat surface mode.
