Most people know WonderPress as an all-in-one heat press — but how versatile is it really? What can each module actually do? And which mode gets you the material effect you want? These are the questions every new maker asks.

This guide is your answer sheet. It maps common finished products to the right module and consumables, plus the tips you need to know before you start. Check the table below.

Custom Molds & Product Packaging

Heat-resistant mold (self-supplied)

Single-use material — once a sheet is formed, it's set and can't be pressed again.
Different films have different properties. TPU and PETG films are FDA and EU food-safety certified.

Packaging or molding over a finished product? Check it can take the heat — wax, foam, and standard PLA deform easily; ABS (≈100°C), PC (≈117°C), or HT-PLA (≈143°C) hold up better.

Tip: You can add the mold from the side after preheating to avoid melting.

Metal blanks stay hot after pressing — wear heat-resistant gloves throughout.

Mugs / Tumblers


Heat only, no pressure

Baking mode runs slower — about 15 minutes plus another 10.

After the first 15 minutes, reposition the mug and bake the other side for 10 more minutes to avoid uneven color from uneven heating.

Note: mug and tumbler lids generally can't be heat-processed directly.

No printer needed — just cut, weed, and press. Puff HTV needs a lower temperature and shorter press time; always follow the label on your specific film.

DTF Transfers

Hot-melt adhesive powder; DTF printer; cooling block

Two steps: cure the adhesive powder in the Craft Oven, then transfer with the heat press plate. DTF has a built-in white base layer, so it also works on dark fabrics.

Apparel & Fabric

Substrates: apparel, canvas bags, nylon bags, drawstring bags, etc.; HTV or DTF transfer film

Teflon sheet; cooling block

100% cotton works with DTF and HTV, not sublimation. Use a pressing pillow over seams, zippers, and thick edges to keep the pressure even.

Teflon sheet

Heat bending is a Heat Press job, not a forming job. Heat softens the sheet — bend it against a jig while hot, hold it in place, and let it cool to set. Results vary by color and batch, so test-bend a scrap strip first.

Sublimation requires polyester or a sublimation-coated blank — it won't transfer onto untreated cotton.

Materials to Avoid in WonderPress

  • PVC and other vinyl-chloride materials. Heating releases corrosive, harmful fumes. Printable adhesive vinyl isn't the same as laser-safe or heat-press-safe vinyl — check the material spec before buying.
  • Materials of unknown composition. Avoid unlabeled foam, unidentified plastic sheets, and unbranded film — they can damage your machine and pose a health risk.
  • Watch for staining. Before a flat sublimation press, lay down protective paper or a Teflon sheet to protect your project and keep the machine clean.
  • Food. Never put any food item into any WonderPress module.
  • Flammable, explosive, sealed, or pressurized items. WonderPress can reach up to 400°F, so never process flammable or explosive materials in any module. Anything that builds internal pressure when heated should also stay out.


Tips for Your First Press

  1. Treat built-in presets as a starting point. They're tested settings, but results shift with sheet thickness, batch variation, and even room humidity. Run a test before a full production batch or pressing a garment you can't replace.
  2. Log the settings that work. Presets aside, everyone's taste and target look is different. As you get started with WonderPress, experiment and record your best settings — it's the highest-value habit for anyone building a business on this.
  3. Check whether your film is hot-peel or cold-peel. Peeling at the wrong time looks exactly like a temperature problem, and it's cost many people hours of unnecessary re-tuning. Know your film type.
  4. Let finished pieces cure 24 hours before the first wash. Turn the item inside out for that first wash, use cold water on a gentle cycle, and skip the dryer and fabric softener — this keeps the design lasting as long as possible.
