The xTool O1 Omni is a 4-in-1 printer: UV direct printing, UV DTF, and DTG/DTF fabric printing, plus advanced effects like gold foiling, 3D texture, and fluorescent ink. Because it does so much, beginners usually get stuck on materials rather than the machine. Which materials do you buy? Which film goes with which workflow? Why does some ink refuse to stick, flake off, curl at the edges, or fail after a few washes?

What this guide does: puts every O1 Omni material, consumable, and accessory in one place, and shows which workflow each one belongs to.

3. When to use primer for UV direct printing

UV direct printing puts ink straight onto the material, so everything depends on whether the ink grips that surface. Primer adds a stable bonding layer between the material and the UV ink — most useful on smooth, hard materials like glass, ceramic, metal, and acrylic. Used right, it reduces flaking, ink shrinkage, fuzzy edges, and poor scratch resistance.

  1. Check the material first. Smooth, hard materials — glass, ceramic, metal, acrylic — usually need primer.
  2. Prime the print area only. Cover the design area plus a small margin, not the whole piece.
  3. Keep it thin and even. Spread it lightly with a cotton pad, lint-free cloth, or brush head; avoid streaks, brush marks, and pooling.
  4. Let it dry. Load the piece only once the primed surface feels dry and no longer looks glossy. Print a white ink underbase too, or the result comes out gray.
  5. Don't rub it right after printing. Give a freshly cured UV ink layer time to stabilize before scraping or packing it.


4. How to add gold foil effects

Gold foiling isn't basic coloring — it's a visual upgrade that makes a piece read like a high-value gift. It suits brand logos, holiday cards, medals and nameplates, wedding favors, gift-box labels, and limited-edition stickers.

Materials that take foil well

  • Flat rigid materials: acrylic, coated metal, sealed wood panels, cards, signage.
  • Press-flat materials: some leathers, PVC board, gift tags.
  • Finished UV DTF decals: crystal stickers, tumbler decals, decorative decals, brand stickers.

A few quick reminders

  • Flatter is more reliable. Foiling suits flat or press-flat materials; for complex curves, do UV DTF first, then apply.
  • Clean the surface first. Remove dust, grease, and finger oil, or the foil layer will bond unevenly, bubble, or lift.
  • Don't go too fine. Very small text, intricate textures, and large solid fills all need a test print first.
  • Secure the substrate. Clamp down sheet A Film and other thin, light media so it can't curl up and strike the printhead.
