The Machine Keeps Restarting

This article applies to:

D1 and D1 Pro with all laser modules.

 

Issue Description

When you find the machine restarts for no reason during processing or simply won't power on at all, please refer to this article to troubleshoot.

 

#1 Check the Indicator

On the motherboard, you will find a blue LED indicator. Let's check it first.

  1. If the blue light stays on, the machine is fine.
  2. If not, please move on to the next step.

#2 Check the Laser Module

To confirm if there is a short circuit in the laser module, do the following.

  1. Take off the cable on the module and restart the machine.
  2. See if the machine can power on or stops restarting itself.
  3. If so, the laser module may need to be replaced. Contact tech support.

#3 Check the Power Adapter

On the power adapter, you will find a green light indicator. It tells you the condition of the adaptor.

  1. If it stays on, the power supply is getting through properly.
  2. If the indicator is dimmed or blinking, there could be an issue with the adaptor.

To be sure, grab a multimeter and get a readout of the adaptor's output voltage. Refer to the picture below for how. Mind the setting of your multimeter. We use DC for the current setting.

The correct voltage reading depends on what laser module is connected. See the list below:

  • D1: 12V
  • D1 Pro 5W, 10W: 24V
  • D1 Pro 20W, 40W: 25V

If the reading is way off, or keeps floating, the adaptor may need to be replaced.

 

#4 Check the Motherboard

If the power adaptor is not the problem, move on to the motherboard.

  1. Disconnect the laser module, and connect the power adaptor to the motherboard.
  2. Power on the machine and check the status of an LED indicator on the motherboard.
  3. If the indicator is blinking blue, please contact support@info.xtool.com to replace the motherboard.
  4. If you have a multimeter and get a readout of the input voltage on the motherboard. See the below picture for how.
