Framing is a function where the laser module moves around to provide you with a preview of the processing area on the material.
When using a D series machine, if you encounter an issue where clicking "Frame" on XCS doesn't initiate the expected movement of the laser module, preventing successful framing, this article provides troubleshooting steps. Please follow the instructions below.
Why it happens
Possible causes may include:
Outdated XCS or firmware.
The machine not receiving the command to frame.
Prolonged button press.
Malfunctioning TF card.
How to fix it
#1 Upgrade XCS or firmware
Check firmware version:
Connect the machine to XCS.
Click the icon at the top right corner and go to "Basic info".
Click "Check for upgrades" to verify if the firmware version is the latest.
If you encounter any issues when upgrading the firmware, you can refer to this guide for more instructions.
#2 Switch the connection type or try another computer
Check the indicator light near the physical start button to see if it is blinking blue.
If not, switch the connection type (between Wi-Fi and USB).
If the indicator remains solid white or green, consider using a different computer to have a try (if available).
If the previous steps do not resolve the issue, refer to this guide, collect the corresponding video and work log, and send it to the tech team for further assistance.
#3 Reduce the button press duration
Typically, when the indicator next to the start button is blinking blue, press it down for just 1 second and then release it to initiate framing.
If pressed for a longer duration (2 seconds and above), the machine will not frame.
#4 Replace the TF card
Connect the machine to XCS via a USB cable and remove the TF card.
If the machine frames normally after removing the card, it means the card is malfunctioning.
Please reach out to our tech support team for assistance and card replacement.
