Issue description

While operating your xTool OS1 Automatic Shaker Oven Machine, you receive a "Lid not closed (Error Code: heat_gap_back)" error message displayed on either xTool Creative Space (XCS) software or the oven's touchscreen control panel.

  • Consult this content for troubleshooting advice.

Potential causes

  • Maintenance door open: The oven's maintenance door is not fully closed.
  • Glitching door sensor contact: The maintenance door status sensor has poor contact or has failed.
  • Cable connection issue: The sensor's connection cable is loose, damaged, or faulty.
  • Main control board failure: The oven's main control board failed.

Troubleshooting

Step 1: Check the maintenance door status

  1. Physically inspect the maintenance door on the back of the oven.
  2. Ensure it is fully and securely closed.
  3. If the door is open, close it firmly. The error should be clear.
  4. If the door is already closed, proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Inspect the door sensor & the connection cable

Tools Required:
  • M2.5mm Hex screwdriver (included with your xTool package)

Important Safety & Preparation Notes:

  • Remove Printer: Before starting, remove the xTool Apparel Printer from the top of the OS1 oven by unscrewing the two installation screws.
  • Cool Down: Wait for the oven to cool down completely to room temperature before disassembly.
  • Power Off: Turn OFF the oven's main power switch and UNPLUG the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Maintain Printer Power: After removing the printer, reconnect its power supply. This allows it to perform its automatic maintenance routines while the oven is being inspected.

Procedure:

  1. Remove Panels: Use the M2.5mm Hex screwdriver to remove the screws securing the left-side panel and the rear panel of the oven. Carefully set the panels aside.
    1. Video Guide Reference: You can refer to the panel removal steps shown in these videos:

  1. Reseat Cable Connectors:
    1. Locate the maintenance door status sensor connection cable on the inside lower-right corner of the rear panel opening. Carefully disconnect and firmly reconnect this cable.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Mind the sensor cable between the panel and the main control board.
    2. Locate where the other end of this cable connects to the main control board (accessible from the left side). Carefully disconnect and firmly reconnect this cable at the main board port.

  1. Reassemble and Test: Carefully reinstall the rear and left-side panels. Reconnect the oven's power cord, turn it on, and check if the error message persists.
  2. If the error is still present, proceed to Step 3.

Step 3: Replace component(s)

If previous steps have not resolved the issue, the problem likely stems from:

  • The maintenance door status sensor and/or its connection cable may have failed; or
  • The oven's main control board may have failed.

Advanced Intervention:

  1. This step requires advanced technical intervention. Please proceed to the "Still experiencing issues?" section to contact xTool Customer Service for further diagnosis.
  2. If it is deemed necessary by xTool technical experts, certain component(s) may need to be replaced.
