1. Common Issues
1.1 Poor cutting performance after a single pass.
1.2 Severe carbonization when cutting plywood with multiple passes.
1.3 Noticeable processing marks at the contact points between plywood and honeycomb panel.
2. Solutions
2.1 Increase the number of laser passes
If the current laser parameters cannot fully cut through the plywood in a single pass, increasing the number of passes will achieve full penetration.
If excessive carbonization occurs after multiple passes, reduce the cutting power to minimize charring.
2.2 Use Masking Tape to reduce processing marks
Apply Masking Tape firmly to the side of the plywood that contacts the machine’s base. After cutting, peel off the tape. When removed, the tape will lift away the processing residue and reduce visible burn marks on the material surface.
2.3 Recommended Parameters for Laser Cutting
Please use the recommended parameters for the selected material, or choose parameters from the cutting parameter matrix that can achieve complete penetration.
2.4 Air-Compress Assist Improves Laser Cutting Performance
Please ensure that Air-Compress Assist is turned on during processing. With enhanced airflow, the laser can cut deeper at the same power and speed, improving efficiency by 20%* while maintaining high-quality results. Compared with traditional air assist using wool felt filters, the xTool Air-Compress Assist adopts HEPA filters, removing 99.7% of smoke and dust while outputting cleaner air. Cleaner and stronger airflow effectively reduces dirt buildup on the laser lens, extending its lifespan.
2.5 Laser Module Lens Cleaning Improves Laser Cutting Performance
Before processing, please check whether the Laser Module and Laser Lens are dirty, and wipe the Laser Lens. A clean Laser Lens can effectively extend the service life of the Laser Module.
