1. Common Issues

1.1 Plywood warps during laser cutting.

1.2 Plywood carbonizes during laser cutting.

1.3 Noticeable surface marks on plywood during laser cutting.

2. Solutions

2.1 Secure plywood with clips or masking tape during laser processing

Plywood may warp due to heat during laser cutting. Using clips or masking tape to fix the plywood onto the machine’s processing base or a honeycomb panel can effectively prevent deformation.

2.2 Air-Compress Assist improves cutting performance

Air-Compress Assist generates airflow that blows away smoke and carbon dust, while also deepening the cut. Using Air-Compress Assist during laser cutting can enhance the overall cutting quality.

2.3 Using a honeycomb panel reduces carbonization

To minimize direct contact between plywood and the metal base, use a honeycomb panel. This prevents excessive carbonization at contact points caused by heat during laser cutting, effectively reducing burn marks.

2.4 Masking tape prevents surface dirt and marks

Apply masking tape tightly on both sides of the plywood. After laser cutting, remove the tape to lift away any residues and processing marks that adhered to the material surface.
