This video tutorial aims to provide step-by-step instructions on how to replace the 100 W switched-mode power supply (SMPS) for xTool MetalFab CNC Cutter.

The procedure outlined in this section should be performed ONLY when

  • The 100 W switched-mode power supply has been diagnosed as malfunctioning by xTool technical experts and thereupon requires replacement.
  • The machine won't start or power on.
  • Unusual noise, odor, or obvious burnout signs of SMPS occur.

⚠️ Important notes

Before or during the replacement, please:
  • Power off the machine: Turn off the machine and unplug all the cables.
  • Allow discharge time: After powering off the machine, wait at least 3 to 5 minutes to ensure complete capacitor discharge and prevent electric shock.
  • Verify the SMPS model and specifications: Before replacement, ensure that the new SMPS matches the old unit in both model number and voltage specificaions.
  • Handle with care: Exercise caution when disconnecting and connecting connectors to prevent potential damage.
  • Check installation: Ensure that the SMPS is well secured and the connectors are firmly seated.

Tools required

  1. 2.5 mm hex screwdriver: Remove the screws that secure the rear plate and the SMPS.
  2. 3 mm Phillips screwdriver: Remove the screws on the SMPS cables。
  3. A new switched-mode power supply
