Issue description
If you encounter a pop-up error message showing "Capacitance value abnormal" in xTool software, please follow this troubleshooting guide to resolve this issue.

Possible Causes
- Capacitive sensor board deformation
- Improper installation: The welding head is not properly installed on the carriage.
- Loose nut: Loose cutting tip nut causes capacitor acquisition circuit unable to conduct normally.
- Contaminated sensing pads and probes: The sensing pads of the capacitive sensor or the probes of the cutting tip are contaminated, resulting in poor contact.
- Cutting tip malfunction: Damaged cables, failed probes, or circuit board failure may prevent proper capacitance detection.
Detailed procedure
Step 1: Check the appearance of the capacitive sensor board
Check if sensing pads on the capacitive sensor board work normally.
- If the sensing pads fail to spring automatically, refer to Replace the Capacitive Sensor Board for xTool MetalFab CNC Cutter to remove the board and check if it is obviously deformed.
- If the sensing pads work normally and show no deformation, yet the issue persists, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Check the welding head installation
- Power off the machine.

- Ensure that the cutting nozzle is firmly installed in the cutting tip and that the welding head makes flush contact with the carriage with no obvious gaps.

- Hold and swing the cutting tip to check if the welding head is properly assembled and installed.
- If stable: Try again in XCS to see if the issue persists.
- If loose: Reinstall the cutting tip to the welding head, and the welding head onto the carriage, then check again.

- If this does not resolve the issue, proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Check the cutting tip nut
Check if your cutting tip nut is fully tightened.
- If not, follow this video to reinstall the nut.
- If yes but the issue persists, proceed to the next step.
Step 4: Clean sensing interfaces and probes
- Remove the welding head from the carriage.

- Detach the cutting tip.

- Clean with alcohol-dipped cotton swabs:
- Sensing pads of the capacitive sensor on the carriage
- Probes on the cutting tip's U-shaped component
- Reassemble the welding head, put it back in place, and test again.
- If this does not resolve the issue, proceed to the next step.
Step 5: Check the cutting tip
- Check the black cable for visible damage.

- Press and release the four probes of the cutting tip to see if they can spring back smoothly.

- If none of these steps resolve the unexpected issue, please prepare the following materials and send them to xTool Customer Service for further assistance:
- A video recording your troubleshooting process and results
- Work log of xTool MetalFab CNC Cutter
