Why Do I Need to Calibrate the Focus Position?

The initial position of the focus and the defocus amount directly affect the cutting or welding results.

A focus that is too high can lead to slags and burrs, while a focus that is too low can prevent penetration. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that the initial focus of the cutting torch is in the correct position and to adjust it properly during processing.

How to Calibrate the Focus Position?

For Laser Welder on the CNC Cutter

• Power on the welding machine and cutting platform, and connect the machine to XCS.

• Click on "Device settings", select "Welding torch focus position calibration," and click start. Get the recommednded position. (Every laser machine is different. For this example, we need to adjust it to +1)

• Power off the machines. Remove the welding gun, loosen the limit component with a screwdriver, and adjust the scale to the recommended value based on the 0 focus position indicated in the software. Tighten the screws and reinstall the welding gun.

For Laser Welder Alone

• Power on the welding machine. Click system settings on the touchscreen and get the focus scale reference.

(Every laser machine is different. For this example, we need to adjust it to 0)

• Power off. Remove the welding gun, loosen the limit component with a screwdriver, and adjust the scale to the recommended value. Tighten the screws and reinstall the welding gun.
