This guide explains the Framing functionality in xTool Creative Space (XCS) software when used with different xTool laser engraver models. Framing allows you to preview the processing area on your material before starting the actual engraving, scoring, or cutting.

⚙️ Framing Support by Machine Model

S1, D-Series, M1, M1 Ultra

These machines support the Framing functionality with the following characteristics:

• Framing is available for previewing the processing area;
• Only rectangular framing shapes are supported.

P2 & P2S

These machines do not support the Framing functionality because:

• P2 and P2S models do not have a red crosshair cursor.
• Unlike F-series machines, they do not have galvo laser capability.
• Instead, these machines display the design outline directly on the material.
• Users can confirm the processing area using the real-time close-up and wide-angle cameras.

F1, F1 Lite, F1 Ultra

These machines offer enhanced Framing functionality:

• Framing is fully supported with multiple shape options.
• Users can choose between two framing modes in the settings interface:
  • Rect mode: Displays a rectangular frame around the design.
  • Outline mode: Traces the actual outer contour of the design.

To select your preferred framing mode:

• Navigate to the Framing settings interface by clicking on the "..." icon near the "Framing" button.
• Click "Rect" to display a rectangular frame around your design.
• Click "Outline" to trace the actual outline of your design.
