Resolve Red Crosshair Positioning Issue After Replacing Main Control Board on xTool S1

Issue description
After replacing the main control board on your xTool S1, you may encounter a series of new issues:
- the red crosshair in xTool Creative Space (XCS) software extends beyond the canvas boundaries;
- the red crosshair does not move with the laser head as expected; and
- the issue disappears when the original mainboard is reconnected.
These glitches are evident when manually moving the laser module, as the crosshair’s movement on the XCS software does not match the laser module's actual movement and it exceeds the canvas boundaries.
Possible causes
The issue arises from changes in motor encoder wiring and main control board compatibility.
- Specifically, earlier versions of S1 employed 1000-count encoder wiring, but later versions switched to 400-count. The main control board is pre-configured at the factory to match the appropriate wiring, however, aftermarket replacement main control boards are typically set for 1000-count wiring. If your S1 has a 400-count encoder, this mismatch can cause the red crosshair to malfunction.
Troubleshooting
STEP1: Calibrate encoder settings via LightBurn
Prerequisite:
- Install LightBurn Software.
- Connect your S1 to LightBurn (Refer to: Operate xTool S1 with LightBurn).
Send Commands in LightBurn Console:
- Access the Console module in LightBurn.
- Type the following commands:
M307 X400 Y400 - Press Enter on your keyboard to execute the command.
- This will recalibrate the system and adjust the red crosshair alignment.
- Restart your S1 and test crosshair movement in XCS.
- Issue resolved? Troubleshooting complete.
- Issue persists? Proceed to Step 2.
STEP2: Contact xTool Customer Service
If calibration fails, contact xTool Customer Service with the following at support@xtool.com for further assistance:
- Machine SN (to identify motor/encoder type).
- Video Evidence:
- Red crosshair misalignment in XCS.
- Physical laser module movement vs. software crosshair response.
