To engrave fast-engrave screens using xTool P2S, you need to set the processing parameters for the screens with caution to ensure that the coating (photosensitive emulsion) in the processed area is removed while the polyester wires are not burnt out. If you want to work on multi-color projects, you're advised to use the frame fixing piece for better results.

The following introduces how to test engraving settings and use the frame fixing piece.

Test engraving settings

Unlike these machines with provided parameters, xTool P2S require a test before engraving the screens for optimal results.  Therefore, you are advised to test processing settings in a small area in an corner of a screen to find out the best settings for your machine before creating your works.

The testing steps are as follows:

Method 1

1. Download the following file and open it on XCS.

Test array for xTool P2 and P2S

Note: This file is made in XCS V2.3. If your XCS is and earlier or later version, the file may not work properly.

2. Start processing.

Method 2

1. Download the following file and open it on XCS.

2. Select the object and click Ungroup on the top bar.

3. Set Power and Lines per cm according to the values indicated in the object.

After processing, find out the parameter setting for the processed area where the coating is properly removed while no polyester wire is burnt out and use it as the processing setting for your screens.

Here are some examples.

❌Wires burnt out❌Coating not properly removed✅ Coating properly removed while no polyester wire bunt out
The preceding processing results are for reference only. You can observe your processed screen area as follows:
  • Observe the processed screen area under light.
  • Use a mobile phone or camera to shoot the processed screen area with a zoom range of 5 to 10 times and observe the picture.

If there're multiple settings fit for your machine, choose the one with the largest value of lines per cm. Because the higher the lines per cm, the clearer the processing result and the better coating removing result.

Note: After deciding the best settings, center the object to be processed as much as possible in XCS. If the object is close to the edges, the processing result may be poor and the screen may be worn out due to tension issues. If you want to work on multi-color projects, you're advised to use the frame fixing piece for better results. The following introduces how to use the frame fixing piece.

Use the frame fixing piece

The frame fixing piece for xTool P2S is not included in the xTool Screen Printer kit. You can click here to buy it.

This page describes how to install the frame fixing piece inside xTool P2S.

Fit the frame fixing piece on the baseplate

This method works for small frames.

1. Take out all the slats from the machine.

2. Snap two notches beside the frame fixing piece onto the slots of the machine.

Make sure you've saved enough space for the small frame on the right.

Note: To minimize any movement during operation and save enough place for the small frame, you are advised to push the frame fixing piece to the very left side of the machine as illustrated below.

3. Flip the frame and screen over so the back side faces up.

4. Fit the small frame and the fixing piece together, with the tabs inserted into the notches.

Note that a screen should be mounted on the small frame.

5. Connect xTool P2S to xTool software to engrave on the screen.

Note: In screen printing, the frame is placed with the front side facing up. You may need to rotate and reflect the design objects based on how you will place your material.

Fit the frame fixing piece on the riser base

This method works for normal-sized frames.

1. Take out the baseplate.

2. Flip the baseplate.

3. Slide the baseplate into the 2 layer and make sure it is pressed to the right side of its limit.

4. Loosen the two screws on the left side of the machine with the screwdrivers provided in the xTool P2S kit.

5. Slide the frame fixing piece into the 1a layer and tighten the screw.

6. Flip the frame and screen over so the back side faces up.

7. Fit the frame and the fixing piece together, with the tabs inserted into the notches. Then, close the front shield of the machine.

8. Connect xTool P2S to xTool software to engrave on the screen.

Note: In screen printing, the frame is placed with the front side facing up. You may need to rotate and reflect the design objects based on how you will place your material.
