Engraving angle allows the user to set a different angle for engraving each time when processing, which contains two modes: Fixed or Incremental.
Fixed: Engraves the material at the set angle for all passes.
Incremental: Engraves the material at the set angle for the first pass, and increases the angle by the set value for every pass added.
Cross hatch means that when processing, it will scan once at the angle originally set by the user, and then automatically rotate 90 degrees to scan once more. This function is equivalent to a shortcut way to set the number of processing times and scanning angles.
Processing Effects
When processing multiple times, scanning at different angles makes the effect more even and delicate.
When scanning at different angles, it is possible to create texture effects at different angles.
Application scope
Application model: At present, F1 Ultra supports this function.
Engraving mode: The application scope of advanced settings is vector engraving.
Processing mode: Process on Flat Surface
How to use it?
#1 Select the processing mode and material name
(1) On the top of XCS, click the name of the current processing mode, and then select Process on flat surface.
(2) In the top-right corner, click User-defined material, select the name of your material, and click Confirm.
Note: If you can't find your material in the list, you can click More xTool materials to search among more materials in the Material EasySet Library. If you still can't find the name of your material, you can select User-defined material.
Note: After you select a material from the material list or Material EasySet Library, the software will automatically set parameters for laser processing. The default settings apply to xTool materials. You can adjust the settings based on your needs.
Note: The recommended parameter settings can achieve the best results only when using xTool's materials. If you are using materials from third parties, it is recommended that you conduct a material test array on your own first to obtain the desired effects and parameters. Meanwhile, make sure that the materials are free from moisture or contamination, which may greatly affect the results.
#2 Perform laser focusing
Hold down on the Up/Down button for the laser module to lift or lower the laser module. When the red and blue light spots overlap, the focus is successfully set.
Note: The blue light spot does not move. If the laser module moves up, the red light spot moves towards the left. If the laser module moves down, the red light spot moves towards the right.
After you finish focusing, you can see the measured material thickness in the top-right corner of XCS.
Note: xTool F1 Ultra supports auto-focus and manual-focus. Here we use manual-focus. For more information on how to use auto-focus, see Focus the Laser.
#3 Shoot background and design processing objects
(1) In the top-right corner of XCS, click the Refresh background icon.
Note: XSC takes a photo of xTool F1 Ultra’s processing area and uses it as the canvas background. You can position processing objects based on the background.
Note: To ensure positioning accuracy, set the laser focus before shooting the background.
#4 Design objects for processing
Use the tools on the left side bar to create objects. You can import images, insert shapes, enter text, or draw vectors as needed.
#5 Set the processing parameters
(1) Select objects on the canvas. On the right side of XCS, set parameters for the selected object. Click Advanced settings and adjust the parameter as needed.
Here, we set Pass to 2 times, adjust engraving angle to 20 and enable Cross hatch. Therefore, the laser module will engrave the object at 20 degrees the first time and increase it by 20 degrees each time in the next three times. After each pass, it will rotate 90 degrees and scan again.
Finally, the processing effect is as follows:
Note: This function requires that your XCS version is V2.3 or later; Cross Hatch may deepen the processing effect.
