Set the Laser Positioning Offset
Updated Dec 11,2023
Updated Dec 11,2023

This article applies to:
D1 and D1 Pro with all laser modules.

There are two types of positioning lights, namely the Red Cross and the Laser Spot, which are emitted from different outlets on the laser module.

As shown in the below photo, the Red Cross positioning light is generated from a separate Red Cross Output, while the Laser Spot positioning light shares the same outlet with the laser beam.

What's Laser Offset

The distance between the Laser Spot outlet and the Red Cross outlet is called the laser (crosshair) offset.

Due to the offset, the laser module will move left and up slightly before the actual processing starts. This makes sure the cross center will be the starting point of the job.

Set the Laser Offset in Lightburn

When you use Lightburn to operate your machine, you'll need to enter the offset value manually.

  1.  Connect to the device and launch Lightburn.
  2.  Go to Device Settings -> Laser Offset -> Enable Pointer Offset.
  3.  Enter the correct value according to your machine and laser module.

For different machine and laser modules, please refer to the values below:

  • For D1 and D1 Pro with a 5W, 10W, or 20W laser module, the offset should be X -16mm.

  • For D1 Pro with a 40W laser module. The offset should be Y -21mm.
